haha, "the u part of the plumbing pipe"....... love it. I thought yours was a serious post till I read that.
In-sink-erator and Waste King (2 of the biggest disposal makers), claim you can send pretty much anything at them. They even recommend putting bones in to help clean and sharpen the blades.
The only tip I can give has already been mentioned, start the unit up and
then feed the food/evidence into it.
