On a serious note, it seems totally strange that he is being tried for a crime he commited in another country and he is not a Saudi citizen. Does Saudi Arabia claim jurisdiction over the entire world?

If I get drunk here and then go to Riyadh could I be charged?

That place is seriously effed up. Just in recent memory I recall a British couple getting a month in jail for kissing in a resturant, some other couple getting a year for having sex on a beach, some guy got a month for being drunk while outside of his home, and now this guy gets DEATH for his TV show in another country?

Why do people continue to go to this sh*thole country?

Saudi Arabia has a ton of religious sites that all muslims must visit at least once in their lives (unless they are too disabled to do so) as part of a pilgrimage. My roomate was a muslim and he was very exited about doing this.

This accounts for the vast majority of visits to Saudi Arabia.

The rest are people looking for "bags of money"...ie people who work in the oil industry.
