Douse it in Coke or Pepsi. sounds odd i know. Something in the coke makes it loosen up

This sounds like a situation that calls for a lighter and a can of WD40. Once you're through with that try all the above suggestions.

I think it's the high acid content that eats away at any corrosion.

I didn't use Coke although it would be much cheaper, but the CLR that the wife keeps around the house for cleaning. Coupled with the wood block and sledge hammer I finally managed to jar the thing loose.

I have to loosen my lugnuts and drive around the block every year to loosen my alloy rims before I put my winters on. I'll have to run up to the store and get some of that anti-seize lubricant before I put my summers back on this year!
