I think the only person dumber than Sarah Palin is John McCain for choosing her as his running mate.

Yes he did. He had several choices like Pawlenty or Romney that would've been somewhat rational. His selection of Palin was what sealed the deal for an Obama victory.

I read somewhere that GW Bush had an IQ of 130. I'm sure Palin is at least half that. A friend of mine posted this status on Facebook:

Going to listen to Palin speak is like paying cover charge to enter Value Village
On a serious note, I really hope that troupe of 20 professional protesters have something better to do than stand out their with their signs and buckets of shoes.

I say 'professional' because it's these same protesters that picket Bush, health care, Harper's constituency office, 9/11 'truth', Palestinian rights, anti racism, etc.

McCain's chances faded like a tan in Toledo after he picked Palin. And despite what McCain may say publicly, he's blaming 100% of his loss on her.

Eventually the bubble you would have to burst on Palin, although I'll never underestimate just how ignorant and stubborn the far right of American can be. But eventually this women will have to have a little more substance then just being the average american and fully of moxy.

Just because you keep telling yourself that there is a difference doesn't make it true.

Stephen Harper ascribes to the same Straussian neoconservative ideologies as George W Bush. This is the same prime minister that was devoted to ending public health care in Canada before he was elected.

How could he not have? There were other options, and, advisors or not, it was his campaign.

Rove and a bunch of others basically told him they would walk out of the national convention unless he picked her. McCain wasn't 'right wing' enough for a large portion of the republican party.

McCain had met her once for about 15 minutes before he chose her as VP, he wanted to pick Lieberman

And sadly just like a lot of far right wingers in the states, the far right looney tunes in Canada will vote blindly for the conservative party no matter who is leading it or what he stands for.

If it wasn't obvious during the campaign that Palin was not McCain's choice for his VP then it's "smack you in the face with it" obvious that McCain wanted nothing to do with Sarah then and now.

I think her biggest accomplishment and her mark on the history will be that she paved the road for Obama's victory so the Americans can learn first hand what a weak and empty president he is.

I applaud her for that.

While I agree that there's blind partisanship by the left too, I was simply agreeing that there is no difference between America and Canada's right wing now.

So false...just so false.

Clearly you have your beliefs, and are entitled to them, but even the most ardent left supporters in Canada and the US would agree that the Canadian conservatives are almost socialist when placed side by side to the republicans. Especially when it comes to a majority of social policies...nevermind foreign policy, fiscal issues, etc..

Review of Sarah Palin's appearance

She seems like a nice enough person, but I'm not convinced she'd make a strong leader.

The biggest difference, I think is that Canadian conservatives, no matter their personal views, are smart enough to leave religion out of the policy book.

Republicans have been given a free gift in Obama. As stated above, he is of little substance and weak leadership, so the GOP will probably take Congress this year, and if they choose a smart candidate, they will take the Presidency in two years.

The operative word is 'smart'. If the GOP is stupid enough to nominate Palin, it will guarantee Obama will have another term.
