"God" should just be changed to "Kiira Korpi" and we'd all be happy. You could also change "sons" to "sons of Kiira". Basically more Korpi, more often.

Seems like anything can be lobbied to governments these days and have them bend and try to please everyone, as long as there is a large enough voter base to back it up. Well I say lets lobby the government to force the Flames ownership and management to get us a real team together....I am sure there are more Flames fans than those who lobbied for the change in our national anthem lyrics.

While I agree that changing the anthem is stupid, your reasoning doesn't make sense.
You're claiming that "Sons" doesn't refer to males because it doesn't have an apostrophe?? That's not relevant.
The apostrophe is to show posession, not infer the gender of the "sons".
So yes, you're correct that the line doesn't mean "Canada is commanded by all it's sons", but rather "Canada commands True Partriot Love, in all of it's sons". But the issue people have is not with the literal interpretation of who commands what in who, but rather the gender of the people who are being commanded.
While I agree that in this case "sons" is meant to refer to all Canadian citizens, the apostrophe argument is completely irrelvant, as the apostrophe is only relevant as to wheter the line means "We command Canada", or "Canada stirs up patriotism in all of us", and has absolutely no bearing on the gender of who it's supposed to reference.

Seriously, we have enough real problems that could be addressed without having to manufacture a few more. Let me guess, they want to convene a committee to study the reaction to the change in lyrics?
Another thought, when was the last time a nation altered its national anthem other than during a Regime change?

I would be absolutely disgusted and furious if this actually happens. I love our anthem just the way it is and I'm female. I have never felt "disrespected or demeaned" in any way when I hear and sing O Canada.
I hate the whole "PC" thing. Nothing makes me feel more like an outsider or different than some person taking it upon themselves to make up words to define me. People just need to grow thicker skin already.
Not everything should be mucked around with and our anthem is one of those things.
Don't "modernize" our anthem by spewing out some screeching Beyonced-up version, and don't change a word of it because you think I should be offended somehow.
Just leave it alone already. Geez.

The anthem is fine the way it is, I think...and even if there is a change, in all honesty, how many people are going to remember? I sure won't....I don't really think about the words when I sing the anthem, it's just habit for me, really.
And, as a woman, I think the "gender equality" argument for this is insane. I am not offended that my gender is not mentioned in the anthem. I AM offended that I make 60% of what my male peers make, with the same education and same work experience. If gender equality truly is part of the motivation for this change (which I have heard conflicting reports about), then there are much more important places to be starting, IMO.

I think we should sing the full anthem. Some of them were deleted. The original poem reads:
