I have one small question for all the lines that have been posted so far
WHERE THE ###### IS IGINLA?
He will captain our 2014 team - Count on it.

Yeah forgot about him, maybe the tide is turning.
His family lives in Calgary and he's mostly trained in Canada so he identifies with us but how about a guy like Colin Wilson, Carey's son who was recruited out of Winnipeg minor hockey to play for the American national development team.

I would suspect that the following guys won't be in Sochi. There age in 2014 beside them
Iggy 37
Pronger 40
Niedermyer 41
Morrow 35
Brodeur 42
Boyle 38
Marleau 35
Thorton 35
For these games only Pronger, Neidermyer and Broduer were over 35. I would suspect that only one if any of Thorton, Marleau, or Iggy would make the team. I would say based on the success of the Americans and canadians this year I would continue the youth movement and likely leave them all off the team.
So really we only need to fill 4 forward spots 3 defense and 1 goalie. That seems like a nice amount of turnover. And for years from now Iggy will need a break during the Olympics to prepare for the playoffs.
Guys Like Stamkos and Tavaras may be ready by then.

If both Niedermayer AND Pronger make the 2010 Team as veterans, there is no way that Iginla is left off the 2014 Team.

LOL, when I read that all that goes through my head is "the legend of Jordan Eberle" - Gord Miller
I'd be stoked for that.

How do you know there aren't some amazing 15 and 16 year old's out there right now training for the draft that will be the next superstars (or at least good)?

Add Steven Stamkos, John Tavares, Matt Duschene, Taylor Hall, Tyler Myers, etc. The 2014 team will be just as deadly, if not more so.

Too bad he'll have 3 and a half years of Oiler stank on him by that point. His spirit should be broken by then.
I have to think Iggy will be there as the captain, much like Mario in 02 and Niedermayer this year. He's likely the only one with 2 Olympic Golds who will still be active in the NHL in 4 years. Pronger is signed beyond 2014, but I don't think he can crack the lineup in 4 years.

Until Dion curbs the attitude, he won't be on the team. He'll have to realize it's a team game and not about the individual.

The NHL has to go to Sochi, because all of the Russian stars will go no matter what.

If this years team is any indication, the 2008\2009 world junior teams are a good start.
