Funny how most Flames fans are saying that he didn't make the save. Thats not really surprising though. Although after watching replays many times, he definitely made that save. Good thing too, because that 1st goal was kind of weak.

All Luongo has to do for the most part is play average or above average. The Canadians have the deepest offense at the Games, so as long as the goaltending doesn't buckle they should be fine come Sunday.
The 1st goal was bad, the save at the end was awesome. Overall, he did his job, although the 1st goal gave the Slovaks the momentum they were looking for.
Miller has been the best goalie on the planet this year, so Roberto has to be good, which he definitely can be. He's a solid goalie. Just no stupid plays (ie. Kipper earlier today on the 1st U.S. goal) and Canada will be in good shape.
Luongo can get the job done. I don't like him as a Canuck, but he's good enough to win the gold. That save tonight showed us he's capable.

I don't know who's saying he didn't make the save.
Vancouver fans are being ridiculously defensive over this on other boards.

Its absolutely within the realm of possibility that if he doesn't make that save, We end up playing the Fins.

I'd rather a goalie didn't let in a weak goal early thus preventing the other team from gaining momentum and his own team tightening up, eliminating the need for any big saves late.

I just skimmed over a few posts and someFlames fans were saying that either Doughty or Keith got their stick on it or it went off the post. Canucks fans were saying Luongo saved it. But I guess after everyone watching replays it shows that Luongo made that save.

I just watched the PVR in slow mo to see what all the fuss is about. You can stop it and see clearly where it deflects off Doughty's stick and when it deflects off Bongos forearm.
Just as Demitra shoots the puck Doughty deflects the puck with his stick then it skips off the lower part of Bongo's glove that covers the forearm. The puck then ricochets up over the crease past Chara.
I'm just glad it didn't go in that would have been a blown lead and 3 goals on Bongo in 7 minutes would Not be very stellar goaltending down the stretch. Giving up a 2 goals in 3 min was bad enough.

Who cares if he made the save or not? Should it change FlameFans' opinions of the guy? I guess.... maybe? No, basically he's still a filthy Canuck so you filthy Canuck fans should just go back to your own forums and talk about how lucky you are to have him on your team.
And we'll continue to discuss how much Babcock hates Iggy and how we should get a real #1 centre to feed him the puck.
Go Canada. The further the tournament goes the easier it gets to cheer for all those guys I normally hate.

But in the context of the NHL, who cares? If Kipper gets the Flames further in the playoffs than Luongo, what is the measurement?
At least Luongo had a team in front of him.
In spite of all of it, I'm still ecstatic to have Kipper come back to Calgary and be our goalie.

Luongo did what he needed to do, as Mayer says, can't say fairer than that.

I believe the joke goes something like this
How do you say choke in Finnish?
Kiprusoff.
Honestly though, both tenders are amazing. Any team would count themselves lucky to have either or.

Both gave up one bad goal today, unless you're listening to whiny Ray Ferraro.

I don't care what Luongo did as long as it ends with a win. I have a lot of faith in the guy and I think with him in net and revenge on our minds we have a great shot at winning on Sunday.
Iginla could be -6 or Luongo could get a shutout or Luongo could let in 5 weak goals, I really don't care, just win the damn game on Sunday. I know I wasn't the only one who Loooouued at the bar in the 3rd period, I hate that chant but I still did it, Go Canada Go!!!

Ah, I was wondering why Demitra shot that wide, but if it actual went off Doughty's stick, going wide then hits Lou then that makes more sense.

Well said..we should all put our NHL jerseys away until Sunday evening and cheer for a gold by Canada. Canada basically pulled a Finland after that first goal. Granted both Kipper and Luongo let in weak goals, but does that justify the whole teams in front to collapse and play terribly?!!?!
On another note, was it me or did the Slovaks run these weird pick plays where they would take their check into one of our other guys? I think it happened at least 3 times!
