Wow great finish for Hughes Olympic career. For a female athlete to win a medal in that event at her age is pretty impressive. Thats no cheap bronze medal and deserves respect.

At 37 or 38 that's amazing beating women in their 20's.

Yep I agree, legit, beating previous track record is no joke. Olympics bring out the best performance frequently, and the two that beat her skated amazingly.

I don't think anyone in Canada will be disappointed with Clara after that race.

Definately in the top 3 for Canadian atheletes of all time. This was just icing on the cake.
I sure hope CTV shows us the Medal Ceremony sometime.

I don't really care about total medal count or stuff like that. It is the personal stories that make the Olympics great. Bilodeau, Rochette, Hughes are all great stories.

Won metals in 4 different Olympics, simply amazing. One more metal in team pursuit would be outstanding.

Is she on the team pursuit? The team that they've been using at world cup events has been Nesbitt, Groves, and Schussler.

Not sure i thought it was 4 skaters, but the 4th might be the alternate not one of the starters.

Honestly though that is what really impresses me is that she has won these medals in sports that are very demanding physically.
A game like Curling is a bit like golf where there is a lot of strategy, and the mental aspect is arguably as important as any of the physical demands, hence why older athletes can still perform at an elite level.
Although I think Hughes is as tough mentally as they get and that probably helps her overcome some of the physical advantages younger athletes may have.
Needless to say I'm impressed, and I felt she was a great choice to carry the flag in the opening ceremonies, and today I hold her in even higher regard.

Agreed, if you look at top 800m-5000m runners, they are usually relatively young, in their 20's. The fact she is late 30's and going out like this 14 years after first olympics is legendary.

For winning multiple medals in both the Summer and Winter Olympics I would say she is in the conversation for being the best Canadian Olympian in history.
She is I believe the Only athlete in the world to accomplish that.

On top of her brilliant career, one other thing that has always made me like Clara Hughes is that every time somebody says her name, all I can hear is Steve Armitage saying: "Clarrrrra Hughessss"

I miss Steve Armitage for speed skating...
Back to Clara, she's just great. I mean we get all this US hype about Ohno with his 7 medals or w/e all in one sport, then you have Hughes with two sports, in both Summer and Winter.
Plus I have a feeling Clara could totally whup Ohno's ass.
