Same reason everyone hates the Yankees. We're the best. And Canadians don't mind telling you so. I can see it. There's soo much hype for Team Canada every year, and I'm sure other teams are beyond sick of hearing about how Canada's going to dominate. Personally I don't see what's so wrong with the comments, but maybe that's just me. I just wanna get this game started, finally the REAL Olympic hockey starts!

Gotta say I am a little upset with the OP for the obvious bait and switch going on. It is obvious by reading the article that there is a healthy competitive spirit between these two in the game of hockey. As stated there is an emotional need for the US to beat Canada, and more of a situation of embarrassment that the Canadians want to avoid.
I wonder how out of proportion someone could blow a quote like "We are bigger than Jesus". I suppose if you printed it out of of context we could have had some history to talk about.
Smell My Finger has all the required traits of being a trusted media outlet.
