I would say
Thornton = Vanek + Clowe + Glencross I wouldn't trade all 3 for Thornton
Semin = Pronger + Stastny Semin has more value than these two
Allen = Prospal Allen is the #5 dman in Florida while Prospal is a top 2 C having a good NHL season.

Overall, I took a gamble and tried to make Ovechkin work but it did not. So I wanted to come out of it at least breaking even and I think I did that.

Any other year Vanek is worth a ton. One off year does bring his value down a bit but almost every player goes through this. At 24 years old, he is still a top level player. If he was having another wiked year I don't think Vanek would be as available as he has been.

Vanek’s services are no longer required

Thomas Vanek may have only suited up with the Hurricanes for ten games but according to his GM it was ten games too long. So when John Tavares name entered the rumor mill Tuesday night it took very little time for Hurricanes GM to do what ever it took to rid the franchise of the redheaded stepchild to acquire the golden boy.

With the addition of John Tavares the Hurricanes have added the final touches of their future new look center core as he joins Brandon Sutter in the ECHL and will be vying for a roster spot behind Mike Richards in training camp for next season.
