I kind of like the car from that angle (which I think is generally the most flattering angle of a car when taking a picture).
I'd have to see one in person to judge for sure.

Another car to try...and I really don't usually go for American cars...is the Cadillac CTS Wagon...very positive reviews

My friend has a Subaru Forrester that would seem to fit your needs. Really nice car.

I have an older one. A bit utilitarian, but a good reliable car. The newer ones are much nicer than my '02. I'd get an Outback now, they're sportier, more of a crossover where the new Foresters are more SUVish.
Another option similar to an Outback would be a VW Passat wagon, because really, most people really don't need 4WD.

You think the X3 is decent looking? The only SUV uglier than it is the Aztec.
If you think an X3 is the best looking in that group, then god help you. I'd get a Volvo XC90 or a Range Rover.

With the wife at home now I'm trying to find a vehicle that suits our needs at a reasonable price. The Range Rover and XC90 are a little bit more than we want to spend right now. I think the Q5 is the best looking of the sub compact SUV/Crossovers but I really don't mind the X3. It has the most cargo space of them all and I already drive a BMW so I'm familiar with the dealership and their ways.
I dunno...

The back looks good, the front is ugly. Personally I really like the look of the X6.
But you said you need space, so get something with space.

That's true, you could always move up to an FX35
What about a Mazda CX-7? Or CX-9 if you really want some space.

Or the XC60 if you are considering a X3

I love Audi's (new 2010 A4 avant wagons are so nice) and Subaru's....
But what about a loaded Rav4? The new ones are huge inside, and they get great fuel economy? I cant think of another car that is as much bang for the buck, especially when you factor in resale value.

we've been pretty happy with our Cx-9...it is a big vehicle though possibly too big for what he's looking for?

Maybe, though after having a Murano for years I think either go big, or go small.. the Murano is supposed to be bigger but really it's identical to a sedan for seating, and cargo barely more than a wagon. 80% of the time I wish I had a smaller vehicle, and 20% (when I really do need more space) I wish it was bigger. And that's just with 1 kid.
If I had my way I'd trade in my Murano for that A4 Avant, or an A6 Avant if I had 2 kids.

Maybe wait for the X1 then ...
And no, it's not based on the 1-Series platform. It's actually based on the 3ers.
