There's nothing stopping Joe Public from creating their own websites, or using other resources to list private sales if they prefer to work without an agent.
You're basically saying, great job by all of these realtors to create resources, knowledge and systems for listing homes that are so effective, but now let me use their hard work and cut them out of the deal.

On one hand I completely agree, but on the other hand it's a monopolistic situation that I think has pretty much prevented any real innovation in the Canadian real estate industry.
Only someone with tens of millions of dollars in marketing could probably ever have a chance to create a competing useful site for Joe Public. And so what? Doesn't MLS deserve to protect what they built after spending all that $$$? Of course.
Just kind of reminds me of the Microsoft browser monopoly case.
