How are you on racial profiling at airport security? Just because someone is Muslim doesn't mean they want to blow up the plane.

Do that now a days and you'll get jumped by 40 other men...only if you're middle eastern looking.

If I paid $10 extra in advance to secure a seat, I'm not moving. They can take that politically correct claptrap and shove it. Or better yet, make a rule forcing parents to sit with their kids.
I can only imagine being on some 8 hour flight, paid in advance for a seat selection, arriving at the airport 4 hours in advance of the 16 security checks they do, only to find I'm the schlump who was moved to row 46, middle seat because a couple of yuppy parents wanted 8 hours alone from their kids just to get drunk on champagne in first class.

I like the aisle. If I pay extra, or show up early so I can get my preferred seat, why should I move for something so ridiculously stupid? The default question shouldn't be "Why wouldn't you move?" but "Why do they want to force you to move?"

Maybe men shouldn't be allowed to sit beside women because that kind of rape is pretty common.

what about women? considering all the stories over the past few years of horny teachers doing their male student body, shouldn't they be under the same scrutiny?

Or maybe the child is on his/her way back to their families home, sitting alone, because his/her parents just died on vacation and now has no family to raise him, or SIT beside him on the plane ride home....
Do you always jump to conclusion to make you happiest and try to defend your point, then end up looking like a ######? That person who makes a huge scene, and a FA leans over and whispers in your ear, his parents just died...
Suck it up, the airline will refund your damn $10, and probably give you damn good service for sacrificing the seat.

I'll take the unimaginable gamble of believing the 13 year old sitting next to me isn't unaccompanied because his parents are dead.
Ever heard of Occam's Razor?

It's not a right to sit where you want on a plane. It's not even a right to be served by an airline.
Just move! lol

If it's an equal to seat and you're travelling alone, then MAYBE it's alright. But the fact is, he was with his pregnant wife. Regardless of how long the flight was or how preggo the girl was (6mths, iirc) the husband has a duty to his wife. To make help her be more comfortable, to maybe run to the back to get some water, to do whatever, really. You think some strange woman they just moved to the seat is going to do all that? What if she's hefty and takes up 1.5 seats? And smells like a hobo? Who is that fair to? It sounds miniscule, sure. But why do they have to be separated for their flight? Because there's a 0.0001 per cent chance he's sitting next to a pedophile who simply can't resist the urges to rape someone on a plane?
I get what you're trying to say in that it's not really that big of a deal if you're alone, etc. But it's the premise. If sitting kids next to adult males is a no-no on BA, then that's a scheduling snafu by the front desk to let it happen in the first place and is not that guy's problem, nor is it his pregnant wife's problem.

Who the **** wants to sit next to a kid on a flight? Good lord, I'd be happy to be bumped somewhere else. Go BA.

The real threat is gay men and sitting next to boys.

As long as you get moved to a equal or better seat.

So you don't have a problem being embarrassed by the staff when you're looking down all your fellow passengers as they glare you down as a pedo?

Assuming the plane is full, how do they pick the second person to move... choose a random women?
Terrible policy, though I'm sure if I were 17 I'd love it.

It's too bad that in this society, if a man is not married with kids, he is deemed creepy, or dangerous somehow...

The real threat is people sitting next to other people. Perhaps everyone should be sealed in their own individual room on the plane in the cargo section.

Or we could just go back to treating women like objects to rape.
That made rape much less offensive... ... no?
.... sorry.

Well in his situation I cant agree more with why he is pissed.... Totally reasonable.. The airline messed up for sure. Second time BA messed up, last year they wouldn't let buddy on because of his tattoos.
I agree with their position, yet they do need a new way to seat people so they are not asking paying costumers to move.

Have a section of seats specifically used for kids to sit in. Group them together and make those seats off limits, otherwise. Then while their parents sit in first class getting drunk other people don't have to suffer.
Problem solved.
