So, is this:
A: Live action
B: The Arthas storyline? Or are they going back to the original opening of the dark portal and Arthas will be a sequel?

The film portrays the origin story of the initial encounters between the humans and the orcs, with an emphasis upon both the Alliance's and Horde's sides of their conflict. Featuring characters such as Durotan and Lothar, the film will take place in a variety of locations established in the video game series.

I love the Warcraft RTS games but calling WoW crap is like... well, you must not like any online game then.
WoW is the most successful and among the best online games ever made.
All of that said, I think it's cool that they are going back to the very beginning with this movie!

Warcraft was perfect as a third person army building war/adventure epic. IMO they messed with a good thing all those years back. That's the warcraft I fell in love with as a kid. But then they were so successful with Wow they didn't bother to at least keep the original game type going on the side. For that reason I've never purchased another thing Blizzard since (and yes, I've tried WOW, but really wasn't that impressed).
However, I'll check out the movie for old times' sake. And cause I like these sorts of movies.

Oh great, so they will only make it to level 20 in this one, and we have to come back for another 2 movies to see them max out?
Then a second trilogy to watch them raid 25 mans?

Well they just kind of took the Warcraft arc as far as it was going in the RTS games. Isn't it better that they don't drag out a franchise into awfulness? They still made a new Starcraft.

That's a really odd complaint. Basically you'd rather they kept making Warcraft RTS games, and therefore dislike WoW no matter how good it was? You probably weren't very impressed with WoW since you were going in with a negative outlook on it to start with.
The RTS genre was getting overloaded when Warcraft 3 came out, and the MMO market was there for the taking. It was probably the smartest decision Blizzard has ever made. If you cared about the Warcraft storyline, then WoW was a great way to flesh the world out in a way you wouldn't get from the RTS.

Yeah. From a lore standpoint, the Warcraft RTS line was like a black book and WoW was like the Yellow Pages.

Been to set a few times for this, some of them were pretty damn impressive. The only thing I know about WOW is that my buddy bought his girlfriend a computer and a subscription to the game for her birthday. I helped him pack and move the next weekend.

Wow, and I thought that the Transformer movies were targets for over the top nerd rage, wait until this one comes out.
Basing movies on video games is doomed to unbelievably high levels of detail scrutiny and impotent nerd rage.
I mean even Chris Roberts couldn't adapt the most obvious game to movie franchise in Wing Commander to the silver screen.

I dunno, they have a pretty legit storyline to pick movies out of with Warcraft. It just depends which slice they take out.

I guess, I just don't have much faith in it. I've never played WOW, up until SWTOR I had never played an MMO at all.
The first Warcraft is still one of my favorite rts games.

WoW isn't so good now, but from it's original release to 2007, it was one of the best games I've ever played.
I also liked the Wrath of the Lich King expansion.
Blizzard has made a lot of changes I disagree with (like talking the 'multiplayer' out of massively multiplayer online game), but they can never tarnish my memories of the game.
It even seems like nowadays with new MMOs being released, they forget that very important aspect. At least for the first bit, Blizzard understood the importance of creating a living, interacting community for players.

Don't be too confused by the name. While it has the MMO's name, they are taking from the time of Warcraft 1. They are doing this right and using all of the Warcraft lore, not just focusing on the biggest name in the franchise.
