Dee and Mac are married in real life. This show is outstanding. It runs on FX in the states. Runs on Showcase here when the new season comes out and on "Bite" everyday at 5pm and 9pm. It started similarily to Trailer Park Boys here in Canada in that it was a cheaply made "film" first. If you are a fan look on itunes on Season 4, I think. There is a free show you can watch during that season, where film students interview Rob McElhenney about them starting out and pitching it to different channels. Simliar to Inside the Actor's Studio. Good few minutes to watch if you like that stuff. Fred Savage directs alot of the episodes and is a key contributor also. Who is Fred Savage? The kid on Wonder Years.

Zoomed through 6 and a half seasons in about 2 weeks. Can quite confidently say it's my favorite show of all time.

I am trying hard to give this show a chance and am in season 4. I'm just finding that it needs more balanced characters to level out all the ridiculous ones. There isn't any difference between any of the leads; they are all the same. Kind of like how Seinfeld wouldn't be funny if all the characters were Kramers.

I think the show is okay, but not at greatness.

The characters are quite difference
Charlie is crazy the free spirit, he's actually quite talented.. but is easily persuaded "the wild card"
Dennis is smart, cold and very superficial ( narcissistic)
Mac is the muscle yet is a coward and has morals, and always feels the need to impress his father
Frank is the "boss" essentially and can manipulate anyone and convince them to the anything.
Dee is the sex appeal of the group like Dennis ( for men) very similar to Elaine, funny and cute, but is terrible with relationships.
She also uses her looks to take advantage of willing men. She is the groups least favourite


They are all alcoholics and terrible people, but their personalities are far different.

Seriously?

Mac, Dee, Charlie and Dennis are as varied as any show can be.

Charlie can't read, can't write, is basically homeless, loves cleaning toilets, gets excited over the most mundane random crap.

Dennis is the d-bag of the group who pops his collar, is the good looking one, thinks he knows everything, pretentious.

Dee, no one in the group actually likes her except and they constantly make fun of her.

Mac, thinks he is a Kung Fu genious, best friends with Dennis although Dennis thinks of himself as better than Mac. Similar to Dennis, but not really a d-bag in the way Dennis is.

Why do I get the feeling whenever someone doesn't like a show as much as you do you pull out the 2 1/2 men comment?

All those things you described in their descriptions are their only traits. Their one dimension. No depth.

My favorite comedy was Arrested Development and Sunny is nowhere near its quality. AD is an example of a cast full of terrible characters who display much more diversity than this show. It even has a moral compass (Michael) who is flawed.

It seems that every character's action on Sunny could just be also done by the next character and it wouldn't be out of place.

AD was awesome and so is Sunny, my favorite had to be where the gang buys a boat...waitress and charlie are real life partners, mac and dee are also married. This show is awesome. Theres the total idiot in charlie, ladies man in dennis, muscles in mac, money man in frank. Dee is kinda annoying but birth giving episode was classic as well.
