Laser radar detectors are meant to work in conjunction with either a laser jammer, or with laser blocking products such as laser veil that you put on your headlights and license plate (if you have one).

They do work, just not by themselves.

Forgot to add: they need proof that your car windows were tinted so they need to scrape a chunk off.

I'm just curious why anyone would:

a) Get tinting in the first place, knowing its illegal.
b) Keep tinting in place once they've been pulled over a bunch because of it.

Wouldn't sunglasses be easier?

I ain't judging (to each their own), but I find it amazing when people "...speed and then complain about the ticket".

So how do they prove speeding or not wearing a seatbelt?

By your theory though it would make people think twice about exposing themselves if the cops have to "take a chunk off" to prove it.

If you admitted to the officer that they were tinted, you might as well pay up. If you didn't, then you can just say to him in court "Prove they are tinted." Google how to fight a ticket. There are plenty of ways to get off. Are there demerits associated with tinted windows? If so it may be worth it to consider hiring a traffic ticket disputer like POINTS.

Never tell police any more than your name and where you live, especially don't admit guilt.

Tailed by a cop on the Deerfoot a few months ago and then pulled over. He claimed I was doing 130 and I was adamant I wasn't. I ended up getting a lecture, not because I was nice, just because I did not admit guilt and it would have been work for him to prosecute.

I seriously doubt a dealership can sell a vehicle with front windows tinted.

I'm not really sure why, I bought the car with tint on it already. It looks good (it's a black car with dark tint), and it keeps the sun out, I guess. I just don't want to put in the effort to take it off.

If I get a fine for it, I guess I'll pay it and maybe think about taking it off.

So far though it doesn't appear to be something the police enforce unless they really want to be dicks. Like I said, warning every time if you just play dumb.

I got a green light camera speeding ticket from a few weeks ago, and I have a question... When the flash went off, I looked down and I was doing just below 70km/h in a 50 zone(like around 68km/h) but when I got the ticket it showed me as going 70 in a 50... so I was wondering, is there a price difference in the fine if I admit guilt at 68km/h? Or is it not worth fighting? Some people say just attempting to fight it will get you a lower fine, but I have no experience in this...

I have tints on my car in the front windows. I moved out here in 2001, I got one warning and one ticket both in the year 2002. I still have the tints on my same vehicle and haven't gotten a ticket since (knock on wood).

In Ontario it was never an issue and they have far more issues with crime, etc then we do. It's funny how stupid our province is they are still debating over the banning of cellphones while driving that we know kills lives and yet they give people tickets for tints. Last I heard, I've never ever heard of an officer getting shot and killed through a tinted window because he couldn't see someone reaching around. Plus if you pull someone over and he has tints in the back you can't see till you get to the side and then its too late anyways. The law is totally pointless in my mind.

They have a line for "reductions" at the Court. If you explain yourself, they are more often than not willing to reduce your fine.
