Damn I was going to get this phone if it was indeed better than the iPhone. It seems like its not even close.

Nexus One coming to Canada - compatible with Roger's Network
Press release:
Quote:
Nexus One now compatible with the AT&T 3G network and shipping to Canada
In early January, we announced the Nexus One, the first device sold through Google's web store. The Nexus One is unlocked, which means you can use it with a SIM card from most GSM operators worldwide. Currently the device is compatible with most 3G networks, including T-Mobile in the US. However, there are some carriers that have different 3G frequencies, such as AT&T in the US and Rogers Wireless in Canada, so users with these SIM cards can only access 2G or EDGE networks on their Nexus One.
Starting today, an additional version of the Nexus One is available from the Google web store that is compatible with AT&T's 3G network. This new model can be purchased as an unlocked device without a service plan. In addition to AT&T's 3G network, this device will also run on Rogers Wireless in Canada. And like the first version of the Nexus One, it can be used with most GSM operators globally.
Additionally, Nexus One devices can now be shipped to Canada from Google's web store, and will work with a SIM from Rogers Wireless. To find out which version you should purchase, based on your mobile service provider, please visit our Help Center.

It's an upfront cost though, $500+ so that might put a few people off
I'm still shopping around for a Smartphone, haven't made up my mind what I want yet

How does the Nexus One compare to the Milestone? We can get the Milestone in Canada right?

Woohoo! Grats. I've had my Nexus One for a few weeks now and I absolutely love the thing. So happy I didn't cave and handcuff myself with an iPhone and have to live under Steve Jobs draconian rule. You're gonna love it.

You know it took me until yesterday to actually sort out the Milestone/Droid thing? I was always so confused ... android operating system, droid phone, milestone phone, nexus phone and about 40 other phones that all work with the android OS.

It was pretty stupid of Motorola to use the 'Droid' name when the operating system is called AnDROID.
I've confused a ton of people already when we talk about the phone.

Oh really? The brand new phone that has literally NO advertising and could only be bought online, sight unseen and in the US didn't sell as many units as the phone that had ads on TV every commercial break not to mention billboards, magazine, newspaper, etc. ads. with a huge pre-existing fanboy base to draw from? Wow, what a shocker... That's some fantastic evidence.

Also, here's the article that awesome evidence was taken from:

Despite its weak performance, Flurry notes that the Nexus One is still the most advanced Android handset to date. It's worth noting that these device comparisons are mostly apples to oranges. For instance, the Droid sold for only $200 during the holidays and was backed by heavy marketing, while the iPhone was popularized for offering a new style when it launched for $600 in 2007.

Dude, you need to let up. I wasn't even comparing it to the iPhone. In fact, I get the impression you didn't even read my post at all.
...unless, of course, you think that Google users are "fanboys."
Edit: Although, it's kind of a good thing you did wig out over nothing. Youre quote above about the Nexus being more technologically advanced than the Milestone made me realize I'd screwed up. For some reason, I kept thinking the Milestone was the one with N wireless... but nope, it's the Nexus. There's just so many damn Google phones these days, that I can't really keep them straight. Anyway, the Nexus is the better phone of the two. Almost double the processor speed and N wireless instead of G.

The Droid can be fairly easy clocked to its chip's design speed of 800mhz, and even up to 1Ghz apparently. I haven't done any of that, because mine works fine at 650 or whatever they have it underclocked to.
I think what the graph above shows more than anything, is that the Nexus One needs to be sold in retail stores. At the time I bought my Droid, if the N1 had been there in the store, I still would have bought the Droid because I felt like I needed a real keyboard. Now that I know that I don't need the real keyboard, I would go for the N1. But, even as much of a nerd that I am, and how much I've read about the phone, I wouldn't buy one without playing with it first. So in a year and a half when I get my free upgrade, I'm hoping Google has changed its mind and put its phone(s?) in the retail stores.

This is really a graphical representation about how google has botched the distribution. The simple fact that the Droid is doing as well as it is while the Nexus One is a very similar device shows me that it's not the fault of the device, but rather google.
There was a mashable article ( here) that outlines the problems with it, one being although you buy it unlocked, you're still locked to a carrier. The other problem (and the bigger one in my eyes) is that customer support sounds like a pain in the ass. At any time you may need to talk to the phone creator, the cellular company or google.
That along with the naming (android runs on droid but also other devices is confusing) really drives home what's been bugging me about google lately. Don't get me wrong, I love google but their approach to many things is very un-human. They develop these things (Wave, buzz) that make sense to them, but for the general public they just don't really work. Their explanation of these things is even worse. I can't remember the last video from them explaining one of their services that made any sense to me. In my eyes google is the nuclear physicist teaching grade 7 math ... they're just too advanced to deal with their audience properly.
