Don't most rental cars suck though? It's not like people are trying to take care of them, and their mostly base models as well which aren't designed for driving experience.
I'm not saying a Pontiac will drive like a BMW, but the GT models I've owned drove really well and were pretty great driving experiences for their comparable class and price.
I've heard great things about the driving of a Grandprix or G8 as well, but haven't drove those.
Saab's on the other hand are nice cars (I almost bought one) but also known for being weak and un-thrilling compared to the Audi's, BMWS and Mercedes they tried to compete with.
