I really enjoyed Fallout, a game that you would pick to go to a desert island with.

Other games that are must haves:
Modern Warfare 2
The Drake's Fortune Uncharted series
Batman

I have my system hooked up to a mammoth home theater but having a baby in the house forces me to use headphones on occasion. Here is what I wear:

http://www.sennheiser.ca/live/senn/produit/en/105/14

I bought these at Axe Music (great store) but I had a $100 gift card which made them worth it. They have such crystal clear sound...even through my home theater I miss sounds so I prefer the headphones.

The PS3 is hooked up to a 48" Bravia 1080P Television, my 360 is hooked up to a 36" HD CRT (seems ghetto yet has the clearest picture possible). I may retire the CRT for the 48" and go with projection or a 55" LCD in the theater room.

I am hooked up through my wireless network, but play most on line games through my 360 which is wired in my basement (through a gigabit router). The PS3 is in our home theater which is where we spend most of our tv time, so I wanted the 360 to be somewhere in the house where I could yell through my mic without waking the house up. I buy the 360 versions of games when I want the game for on-line play, PS3 for local play. On occasion, I will use the PS3 multiplayer, but find the 360 vastly superior in every way for on-line gaming.

I do not use the PS3 for any other purpose besides games and movies. I know some people hook it up to play videos from their PCs, I don't.

I also use gamefaqs.com for any video game related questions, been a user of that site since nearly day 1.

Demon's Souls is a fun RPG. Modern Warfare 2 is worth buying just for the unreal graphics, although I found the short length of the one player campaign mode to be disappointing. NHL10 is a must for hockey fans.

The streaming media functionality is great for playing downloaded media or if you wireless is a bit flaky you can just copy the media to a USB stick and plug that into the PS3 and play it that way.

There's lots of fun cheap downloadable games too. I recently downloaded pixeljunk shooter. It's not a bad game for $10.

Except for the racing game, all the PixelJunk games are exceptional values.

I've been running the PS3 Media Server on my MacBook Pro for a few months now. It completely demolishes any other server I've tried and it really saved the PS3 for me. I can't find very many games that interest me, but the the Media Server aspect has made it quite useful for everything else.

This is true. Pixeljunk makes some fun games. There are tons of great games on the PSN store (SHATTER, FLOWER, BIONIC COMMANDO, THE LAST GUY) and coming out next year even more good games will be released.

Look for HEAVY RAIN in February. This game is shaping up to be absolutely incredible.

I played Demon Souls, but would not recommend this game to a newer video game player. The game is tough and unforgiving.

Go for Bioshock as well. And then go for Bioshock 2 as well upon its release on the PS3.
That Heavy Rain video looks pretty good.

I'm still in love with Killzone 2. It's beautiful, and such a different experience. I don't know why Halo got all the accolades it did when KZ does such a better job at it.

My god LittleBigPlanet is excellent. My vote is for that and the Uncharted series. You can get the first Uncharted for pretty cheap, and the second one is balls-to-the-wall fantastic.
