Yeah HOOT I'm starting to agree. I'm heading out to Action (truck company) now within the hour to have a look. After considering it and thinking about what a poster said above ^^ I just don't think I want to creat more work by ripping the grille off the front. I'm thinking (like you said) ::

- 35% tint on the front windows
- Xenon HID headlights (ordered them earlier, be here by thursday)
- 2.5 inch leveling kit (Just to level the front, the 6inch kits IMO are just over the top.)
- Contemplating the 35in tires. I want to make sure they wont rub the front wheel well. I dont think it will with the 2.5 lift, but I'm going to ask a mechanic before I do any Tire work.

Thats basically all I'm planning on doing. Like I said, after thinking it over I really dont want to half-ass a black-out job. And the Grille part would of been some work.

The xenons are illegal in your truck and will blind everyone else on the road. The glare is bad enough when people put them in their accord/civic's reflector bream housings, when you raise it up to truck height its even worse.

Get used to people flashing you.

I find Xenon lights to be ugly as f--- because of that blue look they give. Spend the money on some an HID kit and really blind those people! I don't believe HID's are illegal.

I have a lowered "rice rocket" and I get flashed with my HID all the time. I could just imagine in a raised truck people would love you!

This is only my personal opinion but please don't bling out or black out your truck. A truck should look normal and rugged, not a piece of decoration or overcompensation. Not Knight Rider the Truck. Not Goth Truck.

This does not look good. Looks like the plastic wheels off a hotwheels car the chinese factory was too cheap to paint the rims onto.

A truck, just like anything else needs contrasting and complimentary colors to break up the shapes so it doesn't look like a blob of metal. Chrome looks good on black F150. Leave it be. It's also good for people to be able to see into your windows. Blacking out all the windows of any car makes you look like a ###### unless it's a limo.

Normal seems pretty boring to me. I don't see anything wrong with adding a little personal touch on your vehicle.

If you want to add a personal touch to your truck, don't customize it with hip paint jobs or mod it with aftermarket body junk or blacked out lights and smoked windows, or ridiculous giant rims, ridiculously big wheels/ride height etc. Don't try to make a truck into a hip hop car or a racing car or something ######-baggy.

Accessorize it to be more useful and menacing. Put a winch on the front with a good winch mount brush guard. Add a roll bar, good offroad tires, good truckbed cabinets, etc. Put useful things on it. Don't redecorate it like a girl. :P I don't know, maybe that's just what I would do if I had a truck.

Now that is awesome. I'd rather drive a truck that looks like it belongs with the military or police than to look cool in the highschool parking lot.

Well as cool as you are by looking down on how others like their vehicles some people don't need to go 4X4ing to feel they get use out of their vehicle. Also looks like that winch has got a ton of use, talk about accessorizing just for the fact of having something. I see it all the time where a truck with a roll bar, winch, bush gaurd and it looks like truck hasn't touched a single piece of ground that hasn't had pavement on it. It is the exact same thing you are trashing.

Some people, like myself, would call that truck ugly and normal looking. Especially with stock rims. But that is my opinion, you think differently.

He is asking for advice on how to do his vehicle how he wants it to look, since he is the one who gets to drive it everyday. Also not sure how tint and raising the truck is "######-baggy".

Actually he was asking for advice on what people think would look better, which is exactly what was provided.

And tint and raising aren't necessarily '######-baggy', but putting in lights that you know will cause visibility issues for everyone else on the road sure is.

If you get them done right they won't cause any issues.

Mine are stock so people flashing me are just idiots and after having them I would never go back. The visibility for me is amazing and they look sweet!

Well then there are a whole load of people who got them done incorrectly out there.

And if yours are done properly they shouldn't cause issues, so why are people flashing you? Just making it up?

Most people just throw in those cheap Xenon lights instead of getting the whole kit installed. So yes I could believe and I see it all the time exactly why I was telling him to get it done properly.

Quote:

Because they are f'in brighter compared to what most vehicles. Mine are completely stock and a lot of the issue may be the type of roads I am driving on. I'm not in big city Calgary with lights everywhere, I'm driving back roads in outer parts of Victoria so I'm sure they look brighter in that situation.

Why would I make anything up? What would I gain from that? Please explain...

What a poser-mobile that would be. Seriously, a bush guard, winch, roll bar, etc. on a vehicle that doesn't go off road is the lamest thing evar. The blacked out truck is 10x cooler.

On the tint, any tint on the front windows is illegal. Some douch cop pulled me over and ticketed me for a 35% tint on the front, then I had to go to the cop shop after I removed it to show him. What a PITA that was.

What prevents this truck from going off roading on the weekends? Maybe it needs to winch a boat out of a lake? Pull an ATV out of a mud pit? Maybe you don't want a rock or a deer to smash through your headlights and grill?

People obviously don't see eye to eye on these issues which is why you see such a variety in car customization out there with so much hatred for one look or the other. Trucks are one thing that really bug me when you see with cheesy tailight covers or tricked out or tinted or silly rims. It just doesn't match. I hate rice rockets too. In the end though, Trucks are one of the few vehicles that chrome really goes well on if done cleanly. On anything else it almost looks excessive but on a truck, it looks like equipment.

Tricking out your ride or blacking it out and tinting it is just going to draw more police attention as well. Keep that in mind.

Sucks when they enforce the law. Were you not warned, or were you unaware of the law, when you tinted your front windows?

I was aware of the law. The car had the windows tinted when I bought it. There are a lot of laws a cop could enforce, but would be lame/anal/unnecessary to do so. This is one of them. He put more people at risk chasing me down Deerfoot and pulling me over on the side of that road than my barely-tinted windows warranted.

Okay, I hear you and I agree. If you're going to be off roading then those touches are nit poserish. I thought you were saying to get those accessories for their looks, not their functionality. Kind of like the bush guards you see on CR-Vs. I also don't like large rims on trucks...anything that makes them less usable as trucks is boneheaded (like slamming). The OP was talking 35s and some aesthetic things that I like, but it was still going to be a truck.

This turned out to be a great discussion!

As for the headlights, they very well may be illegal in your province (which ever) but here in NL they're perfectly legal. They're high-beam/low-beam bulbs, I have been told some people may flash there lights but it's nothing extreme.

As for the Tint. I have decided to tint out the two front windows as well. It's not illegal to do it here in NL. If your driving around with say Double layer 5% on, then yes because you might as well have card-board on your windows. But your casual typical stock vehicle tint is perfectly legal (in NL) on the front windows.

IMO that looks awsome. But like someone said above, that what makes the car world so different as far as personalities go.

Just an update incase anyone else on here is into trucks like myself.

I did indeed scratched the Black-Out idea. Mainly for the reasons I was contemplating about above.

However, I have my new Headlights installed now. I originally had Xenon's ordered, but the Truck Specialty store was kind enough to let me switch (without charging for the order). I went with PIAA 4300K HID Xtreme White/Blue instead. From the research I did, they were high up there in the "consumer guide reviews". They were steep in price, but I can see upwheres to about 100 meters farther with normal beam on. The cost was $130.00 tax-in for just the bulbs.

I also had a 2 inch leveling ready kit installed on the front. The truck is almost perfectly level now from hood to tail-gate. I have the oversize wheels with A/T M/S tires already. But I plan on upgrading to 35 inchers once the summer months come.

Oh an BTW Calgary Puck, While browsing around Action Truck Acces, I found a pretty nice hitch-cover...

....Hell Yes I Purchased It!!!
