I didn't find any xenophobia in Montreal. It's the most anglo friendly city in Quebec. Are you sure you didn't mix it up with another Quebec town?

I don't know where all the hate for Montreal is coming from. There isn't another city in Canada like it. It's vibrant all hours of the night, doesn't seem to be as uptight and corporate as Toronto. Very relaxed city, so much to do, so much culture. I love the architecture. It's an incredibly anglo-friendly city. I have relatives that lived their entire adult lives there and they don't speak a word of French.
The transit system is amazing, the entire downtown is interconnected unlike any other city in the country (Toronto's is decent but doesn't compare to Montreal).
I love Montreal, can't wait to visit there again. And yes, I could easily live there.

As a Flames fan, I'd say it'd be more tolerable to live in Vancouver than Toronto. There's no way I'd be able to tolerate 9PM starting times for Flames games.

come visit TimSJ, Flamesguy_SJ, Halifax Drunk, and myself. I wish we had 9pm start times. Pacific coast games start between 11:00pm and 11:30pm
Sucks hardcore!

Ha, yeah, there's that as well. Around you guys, though, I'd be afraid of falling asleep ... I'd end up the patsy in some well-distributed photo that'd end up in our own Funny Picture Thread.

I know that's really what you meant by "culture"
In all seriousness, they don't call it the Party Capital of Canada for nothing...would I live there? probably not, but I love visiting the home of the habs. Dunn's poutine...hmm I can eat that everyday lol.

Time to head to Montreal!!!! Mob war looming!!!
A definite no miss action!!!
Mob Prince gunned down
The scion of Canada's most powerful Mafia family was gunned down Monday in a bold, violent strike that had experts predicting bitter reprisals and a potential Mob war.Nick Rizzuto was shot in broad daylight beside a Mercedes sedan and he collapsed into the freshly falling snow as terrified onlookers watched the gunman flee.
He was the son of Vito Rizzuto, the so-called godfather of the country's dominant Mafia clan

it's rumoured that the Rizzutos organized a truce between the HA, Columbian Cartels, street gangs .... and the Irish Mafia!
(Why is it whenever I see something in the media about the Irish and prohibited substances I always think of Millhouse and Bart playing video games? "Look out Bart, he's Irish. And he's been drinking!")
