Kensington Wine Market has the best scotch selection in Calgary. Ask for Andrew, he's the scotch guy.

I just picked up:

Bowmore 16 year wine casket
Ardbeg 10 year

My favorite sub 60 dollar bottles:

Laphroaig Quarter Cask (smells like band-aids.. mmm)

Bowmore Legend

The Ardbeg 10 year I just bought (started oily, nice finish)

Glenrothes is a good one to go with, they come in these random cardboard containers but they are very nice.

I'm into the peaty stuff a bit more and here's a few of my personal favourites:

  • Bowmore 18 yr
  • Caol Ila 18 yr
They aren't super cheap but that Caol Ila is incredible. It gives you the peatiness you look for in an islay but the smoothness of a highland...it's awesome.

Another one I just recently tried that I picked from a scotch tasting was a Cragganmore 12 yr old...it's a Speyside scotch so it has a bit more body to it than a highland but is still very good.

After all this, I feel like having a scotch right now.
I forgot about Glenrothes. My brother-in-law gave me a bottle of Glenrothes for Christmas last year. Very nice, I must say. Furnace, if you like smoother scotches, Glenrothes is sure to please.

Caol Ila is my absolute favourite. I like peaty Scotch.

I haven't tried the 18 year yet. It is a little out of my price range at the moment. I do like the 12 year though.

I also really like Bruichladdich.

Talisker is also great. It is not as peaty as an Islay malt but it still has a bit of smoke and pretty unique taste. Spicy?? It has been a while since I have had some.

Does anyone know where you can buy monkey shoulder here? It is a blend.
