Did some of you not read the article? The guy jumps out of his car and starts waving a gun because the car was hit with some snowballs? Where does this somehow become a cop vs citizen issue - this is a citizen vs crazy person issue.

He's not wearing a uniform. He's not driving a police car. He then gets out and brandishes a gun around and somehow it's "disrespect" that's the issue?

Get a friggin' clue already!

This is true. However, I believe that the officer must have said something to identify himself as a police officer otherwise why would everyone stay around. Once the crowd new he was a police officer I think they all kind of new he wasn't going to shoot anyone. If they didn't believe that I think a lot more people would have run away.

Just my opinion.

Dude, don't you know that Cops>Society? The officer should have shot several people at random. After all, someone tossed a snowball at the nice officers vehicle. A snow ball!!!

I didn't read the article until someone said it was the hummer that was hit first. That combined with the fact that according to the article he didn't identify himself as a cop means he was WAY out of line. It means the people throwing snowballs at him were what I like to call severely mentally handicapped for throwing a snowball at someone who is carrying a loaded weapon.

You know if there are morons defending the cop on CP, then there'll be twenty thousand more in D.C. doing the same thing.

The cop was in the wrong, don't turn this into an argument that it isn't.

This argument gets no sympathy from me.

I don't get why everyone needs to come down on one side or the other with situations like this. This cop was a jerk who probably should be taking some time off at the very least. The people in the crowd were jerks with no common sense. How are there arguments about this?

I would disagree. The guy pulled a gun on a crowd because his car got hit by a snowball. I don't care what his day job is, I wouldn't trust anyone that unstable not to open fire. I woulda been outta there so fast...

The cop clearly knew the true value of his Hummer and, realizing that the POS would shatter if hit by another snowball, bravely sacrificed his body to save his car...

No kidding. I can safely say that every single person in that video deserved to be shot. Thin the herd and get the idiots who don't leave when someone pulls out a gun out of my gene pool!

Anyway, the dude is driving a hummer. He's overcompensating in some manner already. Don't give guys like that guns.

There would probably be a lot of people that would have stopped and yelled at the kids, thats all that would have happened. But this man took it way over the top and he continued the entire time. After he realized what he did he should have got in his vehicle and waited for the police to arrive and not get involved with the crowd. But he didn't. The other police officers should have at least had that detective sit in his vehcile while they figured out what had happened.

The crowd is not without fault. They tried to rally that situation into a riot. What they did doesnt mean the officer had the right to do what they did but they have some ownership in that event as well.
Look at that. Voice of reason. I now know that when Jolinar finally finds those Godless extension cord thieves he will not slaughter them in a bloodthirsty rage. I didnt do it....

There is enough blame to go around here.

Please. That's exactly what the owner of a Hummer would say as he attempts to overcompensate with his money by purchasing a POS vehicle.

Yeah, what a jerk... Pulled a pistol on some innocent people. Just a jerk. Not a potential homicidal mad-man.

I generally tend to side with the people not aiming guns at each other.
