You know why everyone rags on Bose? Everybody hates the best, that's why.
Bose may be pricey but you get what you pay for and no audio company has had a better rep over the years. I have all Bose audio in my house and car and they both sound incredible.

I would not call BOSE the best, but then again I don't hate them.
I say whatever your ears like. That is why when you go into
a recording studio you will see speakers ranging from $20 to $50,000.

Ah ok, yeah buying something on a bit of faith can be a bit scary, though when I got my Axiom speakers online I was able to find someone in Calgary kind enough to let me come over and do an audition.

I have three Bose systems, two at home and one at the office. They're great. I'm considering getting a Bose docking/speaker station for my iPhone.

Basically. They aren't that bad of speakers, but they are so over-priced for the quality. I hate hearing people in Futureshop or Bestbuy praise Bose, or when I hear someone talking to his buddy "Get Bose dude, they are awesome speakers".

If you spend your money on Bose you might as well also waste your money on Monster cables. Just saying.

Ha, except that the Mac actually provides a better product then the competition, while the other ones just say they do.

What do people think about soundbars? Seems like they are a fairly good way of getting decent sound in a small package.

Sony is probably another overpriced brandname, but it seems like their CT500 seems to be getting some good reviews.

Not a huge soundbar fan here, but if the room is small enough, it could work.

You're right; for the most part Sony speakers are definitely overpriced for what they are. I do know a guy in a small apartment who got an all-in-one wireless Sony home theater system, used his Sony card for some discount, and loves it. It's really a personal preference.

I've been through this same dilema many times over, trying to find decent speakers that will work for anything...

Logitech Z-5500 http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/sp...s/224&cl=us,en

Do yourself a favour and ignore that they are made by Logitech. Go to a future shop or best buy and try them out for yourself. If they don't have a demo set up, don't let them talk you into something else. Just find a store with a demo unit. These things will leave just about any other speakers out there in the dust. Hands down.

As for looks... They aren't made by Apple or anything, but they aren't exactly ugly either.

Also, don't let the price scare you. They retail for $500, but you can usually get them on sale somewhere for around $250. Especially on Boxing Day.

I like Genelec, I also like Tannoy.

But someday I will buy these.

I have the Acoustimass 11 that I bought during the Best Buy grand opening in West Edmonton. They are fantastic - you can get stands, wall mounts, whatever for them. They serve me well in my Calgary condo.

You know what, I have a logitech surround speaker system with sub for my computer and now that you mention it, the sound is pretty effing awesome. Especially considering I only paid like $150 or something for it a couple of years ago. I'd for sure check out the system you linked to if I was in the market for something like this.
