That would be ironic, given this was a military installation. The one place where there would be guns in a gun free world. It'll happen though.

This would not have happened if the US government would keep farmers and hunters from owning guns.
(I do not mean to be insensitive, I feel for the soldiers and their families. Humour in a time of tragedy is a human way of dealing with heavy issues)

I would like you to have a little common sense and not post something like that in a thread right after an event like this has happened. Purchase as many video games as you want, make threads about them as much as you want, but this isn't the place.
11 soldiers shot down in cold blood only hours ago, 6 days before Remembrance day, and you want to immediately discuss video games?
Common sense aint so common these days.

I don't thin his comments were really that out of place. We've seen multiple cases of the immediate response to these types of occurrences to be bizarre finger pointing at music, movies, and video games. I agree that the primary concern should be for the lives of those involved, but discussing the potential fallout in wider society isn't that terrible. Insensitive maybe, but not reprehensible.

No, it was a stupid and insensitive post. Stating some like "I wonder if the media will tie this to violent/military video games" is one thing, but to state your primary concern "as a gamer" is that a stupid video game's release might be postponed or banned is just moronic.
As a human being with a brain, is it wrong that I think that poster is an insensitive asshat? Am I insensitive for thinking that?

Hey I don't disagree, if that's your primary concern it's pretty ridiculous. I guess I was just reading it in the most positive light I could find, maybe I find it hard to believe he actually was thinking of that as his primary concern. I'm in a an odd 'think the best' mood today, it's rare for me.

Actually, my first thought was "So they let these guys on a military base, but yet they can't let The Gays in. Awesome."

Apparently he "sympathized with suicide bombers".

You let the gays in, and its all over. The soldiers will spend their time braiding each others hair and doing their nails, the entire defense machine of the USA will come to grinding halt.

Maybe not confirmed but on TV they said he was upset about being deployed to iraq and having to fight against his "brothers"

Not sure how accurate this report is but here's a quote
Quote:
Hasan was an unhappy soldier, according to his family and colleagues, not at first, but as his career progressed. Nader Hasan said his cousin, though born in America, had suffered harassment from fellow soldiers who questioned his loyalty to the US and commented on his Middle East ethnicity. As a Muslim, he was upset at the killing of Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan and Nader Hasan confirmed that he had been resisting deployment in either war zone.
He had been scheduled for deployment to Iraq at the end of the year and had told colleagues repeatedly he did not want to go. He felt trapped, looking at ways to buy his way out, even going to the extent of hiring a lawyer to seek if he could leave military service honourably.

What a clusterfark of misinformation the whole day was.
They had the guy dead all day...until a press conference by the commander of the base and he blurts out that he is still alive and is in CID custody at a local hospital.
you could hear the jaws hitting the floor in every newsroom around America but in particular at the CNN/FOX?MSNBC's of the world. pretty amusing moment actually.... in a day very devoid of such things.
This guy was a counsellor to the returning soldiers and helped them deal with the horrors they witness in was and the impending PTSD...then today he wakes up and kills those same people he was helping?
Hard to believe that this hasnt some radical islamic element associated when all is said and done. Unless he had a complete and utter meltdown that had his deranged mind thinking he was saving these people from the horrors they were about to see when they went over there.
then again it sounds like the shooting occurred in a contained area that was a waiting spot to see medical personel...so who freaking knows.

Imagine, he was told he had to earn his paycheck overseas like many many thousands of service people.

Someone should have told him a lot of the muslims killed in iraq are from muslims.

I'll apologize for de-railing the thread, and that's it. The discussion is NOT a bad topic. You can't honestly think I'm not feeling for the loved ones of those killed or injured today do you?? Please..
ANYWAYS
This is a bizarre story, the guy is dead, then he's fine after surgery? Say what? To me it seems like this has been a long thought out plan years in the making. Did they say who the other 2 suspects were?

I heard it turned out they didn't exist and it was the one guy only...who was supposed to have been killed but now he's alive and in hospital.
