Woooooohooo!!! Another win against BC Lions. Calgary is guaranteed a home game in the playoff. Bring on the Riders!!!

BC Lions must now beat the Eskimos to make the playoffs. I guess I'll still go for the Wally's boys against those morons from the North.

So is it if we lose to Riders we are 2nd in the west? I'm assuming its a tie breaker for them or am I wrong.

Anyhow great game, so glad we pulled that out, that last 1 minute was way too scary.

yea scary last few minutes, glad they pulled it out
Stamps are up 2 points on the riders, so a Stamps win or another tie, gives stamps first, a riders win gives the riders first. they are up in the season series 1-0-1, so a win gives them a 2-0-1 record vs stamps and they would both have 21 points

Wow, interesting game tonight. First quarter, BC was really giving it to the Stamps. Printers had a great start throwing deep to Arsenault. BC scored TD right away. Burris and the Stamps offense on the other hand had a slow start. Burris didn't make his first completed pass until the fifth pass I believed and they were -3 on net offense at that time. Second quarter is the opposite. Burris and company connected and Nik Lewis finally have his first TD of the season. Rob Cote I think was the offensive player in the first half for the Stamps. Obviously he is trying to make us Stamps fans forget Teyo Johnson.

3rd quarter, both defense (BC and Calgary) took over the game. Both Printers and Burris were harrassed all quarter and were ineffective. In the 4th, both offense managed to score a TD and the ended up close. It was a nailbiter especially after BC scored a TD with a little over a minute left. Lots of time left for Burris to get the field goal range. 2 important first down pass and Joffrey Reynolds to the rescue.

That was some pressure Printers were getting all night. The BC OLIne and QB Printers will have nightmares seeing Charleston Hughes and Jim Davis coming down to pressure the QB. The inexperience by the BC Lions OLine actually showed especially in the 2nd half. C Dean Valli messed up a lot of plays for BC. Calgary won 28-26, a field goal by Sandro DeAngelis.

One thing that I enjoyed the most was seeing Jojuan Armour missing tackles and was a non-factor all night. I am so glad that Hufnagel got rid of that overpaid bum. I didn't like him when he was in Calgary last season and I still don't like him now.

If Winnipeg wins tomorrow against Montreal, there won't be any crossover in the playoffs. It means, Edmonton and BC are fighting for the playoff spot next week. Saskatchewan and Calgary are fighting for 1st place and loser gets to host the Western Semi-Final. The only way there is going to be a crossover is if Winnpeg lose both their remaining game. I love it!! Last week of the season is so important for all 4 teams in the West and 2 teams in the East.

He is the Stamps MVP this season. I would be surprise if someone else beat him for the Stamps selection. He might even be the MVP in the West in my opinion.

I don't see anyone in the West that could beat him.

I read on another board where someone said Stamps could be the West rep but that would be a god awful choice as I don't think he is even the best receiver in the West let alone the best player.

AC will win the award though so I guess it isn't a big deal who loses to him.

interesting game indeed,
there can still be a cross over if winnipeg wins next week, but edmonton and BC would have to tie. assuming that game won't tie, its a win win for me as i don't want the crossover to happen but also want hamilton to get the home playoff game. either way im happy. next week will be great!

Well as for the next game against the Riders, I would trade the division for another Grey Cup birth this year. My bet is the winner of next week's game will be the loser in the West final should the two teams face again. There's something about the Riders that the Stamps just can't beat in a meaningful game. The Stamps are 0-3 vs. the Riders in playoff games dating back to November of 1997 where the game ended after a Stampeders return of a botched 2-point convert attempt by the Riders, where the average fan learned that returning a convert the other way only results in 2 points!

0-3 over the past 12 years - I'd hardly call that a meaningful stat. I never understood how the 1997 Stamps losing to the 1997 Riders with zero players still on those teams somehow affects what's going to happen in 2009.

The most important stat right now is +87 (Stamps) vs. +14 (Riders) point differential. Point differential is usually a pretty good indicator of finding teams that aren't as good (or bad) as their record might indicate.

Point differential can be a good indicator in sports where playoffs are a series of 5 or 7 games. Football playoffs come down to just one game. This year, head to head the Stamps have choked away in the final minutes two games in which they had a lead of larger than a field goal on the Riders. The Riders having a lower point differential than the Stamps while having the record they do indicates to me that they have the stones to win tight games (of course the corollary to that is that having to pull out games in the last minute really means that their last few times rolling the dice they have been lucky, and are due to fail, but I've watched enough Rider football, they're like dracula you need to put a stake through their hearts they usually won't beat themselves).

There are two big differences between the Stamps team last year and this year.

1) The defence simply cannot hold a lead of 1 score or less late in the game. Only against Hamilton in deplorable weather did the defence hold the opposing team in their last possesion in that situation (Ironically the reason they won Saturday night was because the defence folded quick enough to give Burris enough time to return the favor to the Lions). Last year the defence had to do this in both the western final and the Grey Cup. Should they be called upon this year to do the same I have my doubts.

2) Injuries to important offensive players. Without Rambo the Stamps have had a lot more trouble opening up the deep passing game this year. Copeland has filled in admirably, and Bryant has had his moments since coming here, but Rambo was the key to the Stamps quick strike play and that ultimately opened up the short and middle passes for guys like Lewis. Also missing a guy like Thelwell is often over-looked. Last year Thelwell was the best reciever on 2nd and medium late in games where the Stamps had the lead. His clutch catches in those situations helped them to hold onto the ball and better manage the clock late in games.
