Caveat Emptor?

THere is also the Fair Trade Act.

A good has to be fit for the purpose it is intended for. This one didn't add up.

I hate even walking into a dealership. You might as well go in with a jar of vaseline and bend over. I've bought my last two vehicles privately.

I want to go to Eastside Dodge just to look at some of these monkeys.

From my experience, Shaganapi are mostly butt-holes too. The salesman who sold me my card is a complete ###### (now works for BMW), and lied to me about "Tires for life", to my face. I didn't find this out until a few months ago (3.5 years after purchase). Every time I go to the shop to complain they say "we'll fix it and I'll call you bacK", I called 5 times one day at various times, and each time "sorry, he isn't here". Such cowards.

My next new car I am going to be the biggest a-hole. They want to lie to me, well then lets play hardball.

I've had similar issues with Renfrew Chrysler. I refuse to by a Chrysler product because of them.

One would think that these domestic dealerships would at least have good service. With so many things going against them lately, I would hope that they could at least provide a better experience for the customer, if not a better car.

When it came time for me to look into buying a new car, I asked all my friends about the experiences they had. Just about everyone had a bad story about either buying a domestic car.. Or owning a domestic car. Even some of my friends with imports have had some bad luck (BMW, Mercedes - I've never heard a good thing about their service).

After doing some research the car I bought was a Lexus. The salesman was a pleasure to deal with, they pick it up and drop it off when it's due for service.

They are not as expensive as people think. They keep their value...

I would buy another one.

I had issues with Eastside. My ex slid into a curb one icy day, and took it to Eastside to get it looked at because previously she had good service. They looked at it, gave an outrageous estimate to fix including some cosmetic things she had told them not to quote. Then when she said she wanted to go elsewhere she was told they were declaring it a dangerous vehicle and weren't going to give it back to her until she approved the work. Well, we got it back, took it elsewhere (Blaskin & Lane) and had it fixed for 1/3 the Eastside estimate.

There's something to be said for small town dealerships. Living in High River I bought a 2005 Ford Escape from the local Ford dealer here a few years back. Since that time i've gotten great service from them. In fact I got them to put some new Michelin tires on my Escape and they even beat the price Costco quoted me.
