We typically go to a vet downtown but when we found out they charge $450 for neutering a dog, we looked elsewhere. We found a vet in Strathmore that does it for $225 and they were very reputable. I will continue to go to my usual vet downtown for everything but I just couldn't justify paying double.

we looked into that but if your dog has never gone there they charge a fee for new patients which made it closer to city prices and not worth the drive

PM me if you need a vet to neuter your animal, he charges $100 and is out in Black Diamond. No fee for new patients either.

My wife works at a vet clinic in Kelowna, they charge a lot less than you guys are paying. A rottweiler about 100lbs would cost $265 for a neuter, cone and pain meds-with blood work and fluids and a tatoo it would be about $325-$350. Smaller dogs are quite a bit less as the amount of anasthetic and pain meds are less. A 35lb dog would be around $150 for the neuter, meds, and cone.
There is some big-time price fixing going on in Calgary according to the vets in the Okanagan as there are a couple chains that dictate the prices there. In Vancouver it is the opposite as competition among clinics is quite high and prices for vet services are quite low there. It costed $108 to spay my 5 month old Chow Chow when she was 28lbs. That was in 2002 but prices of things haven't risen that much since then.

Anyway, I thought neutering was much cheaper. Does this sound right?
ask Garry Bettman he's done it to the NHL.

Apparently there's a woman walking around Vancouver who will do it for free.
