Brilliant....and so appropriate for the most part.
It's witty, but for it to be brilliant, it would have to be true and not just an opinion.

Unless you think that simply agreeing with something makes it brilliant.

Thanks for telling me what construes brilliant in your world. I'll take that under advisement.

I think it's absoluetly correct as well and not just an opinion.

Its idealism vs realism...a long debated issue. He just summed it up perfectly and brilliantly. In my opinion.

Oscar Wilde..the king of good quotations:

"Arguments are to be avoided; they are always vulgar and often convincing."

"Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months."

"The only thing to do with good advice is pass it on. It is never any use to oneself."

"Always forgive your enemies - nothing annoys them so much."

"Bigamy is having one wife too many. Monogamy is the same."

"I can resist everything except for temptation."

"I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read in the train."

"Life is much too important to be taken seriously."

"Moderation is a fatal thing. Nothing succeeds like excess."

"There is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about."

"To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance."

"Whenever people agree with me I always feel I must be wrong."

What consititutes fact and not opinion, for the Chomsky quotes you posted were also merely opinions.... and from the way in which you seem to disregard the worth of opinion based quotations I am amazed that you would post something which would be so flimsy.

I didn't make a declaration of brilliance either, did I?

It's pretty arrogant to declare something brilliant when it was an obvious insult meant to marginalize people with a particular political belief. Churchill's quote wasn't some grand realization that would qualify as intelligence more than political wit.

Jello Biafra is always good for some quotes:

"No matter how old you are or what you're doing, if you're stuck working in a serf-type job it's your moral obligation to sabotage."

"In this country, you'll remember awhile back that President Reagan made a call for more 'happy news'. He was tired of hearing bad news and people criticizing him or making fun of him--- 'let's have happy news!' Suddenly, presto, in vandal-proof newsstands all over the country--- even in a little crossroads town in Mississippi--- we have, beamed via satellite, the USA Today. Happy news! Generic news with very little depth, and the tone is always: 'It's going to be another sunny weekend: let's go to the beach!'"

"There's nothing more humiliating than being hungry and having nowhere to eat but McDonald's! I mean, you're probably better off buying a can of cat food and eating that."

"I just think at this time it's more emotionally fulfilling to accentuate the negative. There's a certain joy in complaining that many people miss."

By and large, L.A. and Hollywood is where most of the products that this country is fed come from, at least in terms of ideas--- and these ideas are carefully designed to keep people from thinking--- to condition them NOT to think, from Mickey Mouse and our totalitarian school system on up. If people could THINK, they wouldn't model themselves like cartoon characters and let other people play with their lives like a f****** termite colony."

Henry Rollins

"I don't want to know. I don't need it. I don't want the information that millions of people have. I don't want to be fed these boring facts and figures. Then you'll become one of the masses. I'd rather starve my mind a bit and have to search out nutrition in stranger places."

"There are so many hammocks to catch you if you fall, so many laws to keep you from experience. All these cities I have been in the last few weeks make me fully understand the cozy, stifling state in which most people pass through life. I don't want to pass through life like a smooth plane ride. All you do is get to breathe and copulate and finally die. I don't want to go with the smooth skin and the calm brow. I hope I end up a blithering idiot cursing the sun - hallucinating, screaming, giving obscene and inane lectures on street corners and public parks. People will walk by and say, "Look at that drooling idiot. What a basket case." I will turn and say to them "It is you who are the basket case. For every moment you hated your job, cursed your wife and sold yourself to a dream that you didn't even conceive. For the times your soul screamed yes and you said no. For all of that. For your self-torture, I see the glowing eyes of the sun! The air talks to me! I am at all times!" And maybe, the passers by will drop a coin into my cup. "

"It's sad when someone you know becomes someone you knew."

"Nothing Brings People together more, than mutual hatred."

"When life hands you a lemon, say "Oh yeah, I like lemons. What else you got?"

"If you hate your parents, the man or the establishment, don't show them up by getting wasted and wrapping your car around a tree. If you really want to rebel against your parents: outearn them, outlive them, and know more than they do. "

"Hope is the last thing a person does before they are defeated."

"Half of life is f***ing up the other half is dealing with it."

"Want a good body? Work at it. Want to be a success? Work at it. Want to be truly exceptional? Be a touch insane...You need a little bit of insanity to do great things."

"Go without a coat when it's cold; find out what cold is. Go hungry; keep your existence lean. Wear away the fat, get down to the lean tissue and see what it's all about. The only time you define your character is when you go without. In times of hardship, you find out what you're made of and what you're capable of. If you're never tested, you'll never define you character. "

Guess!

No liberals allowed to guess please! Not that you'd get it anyway, considering you don't have brains. Wait a minute, which side am I on? Can't remember.

"A proof is a proof. What kind of a proof? It's a proof. A proof is a proof. And when you have a good proof, it's because it's proven." - Chretien

One of the most ridiculous quotes ever. A complete embarrassment to all Canadians.
