If you craft a reasonable post that tries to find the middle ground of a debate it will do you almost no good.

You need to find a topic and take a firm stance (for good or bad), get up on your soapbox and pound your fist to make people take notice.

It is kind of like politics - it doesn't really matter what you say as long as you say it with conviction. THEN you get thanks.

Or post a funny picture, that works too.

Yah there's one name in the top 50 list that I couldn't believe, 'cause I don't think I've ever seen a post of his that was even worthy of a neutral reaction, never mind a "Thanks!", and your theory fits him perfectly.

All kidding aside, yup, I think I know who you're talking about. I'm somewhat intrigued, but surprised all the same.

I'm amazed that I'm still up there, I dont get any of the "Mass Thanks" from doing things like OOT threads, Flames news or Game Takes, I'm all natural baby!

What if you only count posts that have been thanked? For example I have 807 thanks in 289 posts for a stellar 2.79 Thanks per Thanked post ratio.

HOOT, on the other hand, may have more thanks overall but he has a measly 2,799 thanks in 1,057 posts for a mediocre 2.65 Thanks/Thanked post ratio.

I thought of that too, but I think it's more important to measure good vs crap, rather than good vs... goodest...
