WTH? The radio was saying that the zoo might be held responsible due to a lack of security?? I'm pretty sure tigers would be about the best security system you could have.

Anybody know the guy? Not like we need confirmation that he's a complete idiot, but it'd be interesting to hear from someone that knows him.
And yeah, if the Zoo or the tiger end up in any kind of trouble, I'm going to be mighty disappointed with society.

Yup, this story initially had me chuckling at the stupidity and the irony of the situation, but after thinking about it, I realized the zoo may decide to euthanize the tiger. If that ends up being the case, the story just irks me in ways I can't describe on this family internet forum.
But outside of legal matters, the dude got what was coming. You mess with tigers, you just might get attacked. Geez, I've been attacked by regular housecats when I'm doing something they don't think I should be. And it hurts too!

Whoa whoa whoa, since when did our society just throw personal responsibility out the window?
If there is even the slightest talk regarding the euthanization of the tiger, I will do my best to raise holy hell. If you break into a tiger enclosure and stick your hand between the bars, you are lucky to get off with just a shredded arm. Why do we persist in protecting these goddam idiots? They should chuck the rest of him in.

Absolutely. If I run out onto deerfoot trail and a truck takes a limb, how fair would it be to blame Ford?

For some reason I immediately thought of 'The Hangover'. Mike Tyson will not be amused...

I can't see that happening.. Its a shame that natural selection didnt finish the guy off. Its unforunately such stupidity can't be weeded from the gene pool.

I work at a high school and we used to have barbed wire to prevent students from getting on the roof (on the edge of the roof) and to also add extra security for vehicals parked at night outside the automotives shop (on top of the chain linked fence.
Lawyers advised the school to take them down because if a student ever got hurt on them, the school would be held liable. A student breaking in to the secured premises of the school who got hurt doing so would be able to sue and win, according to the school board's legal advisors.

We should euthanize the tiger because it didn't kill the idiot.

Why all the talk of a "lack of security" at the #yyc zoo? Don't the tigers count?

Wow, new article on the Herald website says they "called a zoo security guard they knew" after being attacked? Just gets weirder.

I caught the tail end of the news conference and the zoo people just said in cases like this the biggest impact is to the animals as often the "quick fix" is to confine the animals to their cages instead of letting them roam their enclosure during the night. They said something like "people do thinks on a lark and the long term affects are usually felt by the animals." I'm hoping that doesn't occur and I'm hoping the only long term affects are the scars the dufus has to carry around with him now.

His story may be dumb, but at least it'll sound cool when he tells people how he lost it (at least until the story unfolds a bit more)
Bob: Hey Frank. What happened to your arm!!!
Frank: No big whoop... Got mauled by a tiger, survived. You should see the tiger.
Bob: How the hell did you get mauled by a tiger in Calgary?
Frank: Uh.. broke into a cage at the zoo.
Bob: Idiot. And what state is the tiger in?
Frank: I suppose he's turkey tired and having a nap after eating my delicious arm.
