Turns out, the guy staged the scene and committed suicide.

CNN) -- A Kentucky census worker who was found dead in September committed suicide and staged the scene to look like a homicide, authorities said Tuesday. The body of William E. Sparkman Jr., 51, was found September 12 near a cemetery in southeastern Kentucky's Clay County. He was wearing only socks.
"A thorough examination of evidence from the scene, to include DNA testing, as well as examination of his vehicle and his residence, resulted in the determination that Mr. Sparkman, alone, handled the key pieces of evidence with no indications of any other persons involved," Kentucky State Police said.
Sparkman's wrists were bound with duct tape, and a rope around his neck was tied to a tree, but his body was touching the ground, authorities said. He had "Fed" written on his chest in black ink.
However, Sparkman's wrists were loosely bound in front of his body at shoulder width apart, allowing for "considerable mobility," said Kentucky State Police Capt. Lisa Rudzinski.

haha, sure thing chief. Perhaps if the open field had a statistically higher chance of resulting in being struck by lightning that would be a valid analogy. Below is an article wherein a couple years ago Morgan Freeman offerred to pay any amount of money for the high school seniors to have an integrated prom. The parents of course attempted to kibosh that effort, as it would be immoral to have blacks and whites in the same room in the 21st century.

Speaking as someone who has spent the last 7 years in various southern states, I have to say Eddy's comments are not entirely without merit. Possibly over-reacting, I guess.

Southern states are still very segregated. Here in Richmond,VA, there are poor blacks in the city, and rich white people in the suburban counties. In the city, there are very poor, very violent all black neighbourhoods, where all the kids go to crappy public schools that are 99% black, while the white people live in 99% white neighbourhoods and send their kids to private schools. The suburban counties are a bit more integrated, and have good public schools that are probably 80% white. Professional offices are for the most part integrated, but social functions are mostly very segregated (by choice I guess).

So I guess it is in good practice to take one article from a Canadian publication and paint everyone in the South of the US as racist?

I guess it would be safe to me to say that from all two of the Canadians I have met in the US, that all Canadians lack common sense. I know that is not true.

There are racist idiots everywhere in the world. Some Northern states of the US can be worse than Southern states. Some of the most diverse states in the US are in the South. Have you ever been to Houston, Tx? It is easily one of the most racially diverse city in the US.

I think a better way to figure an areas economic clout and real size is to include the metropolitan area; in order New York, L.A., Chicago, Dallas, Philadelphia, Houston, Miami, Atlanta, Washington and Boston.

Anyways, as a black dude who's visited TEXAS and Arizona I think your ladyfriend has nothing to fear... Texans were amongst the most funloving people I've ever had the pleasure to hang with. I had a great time in the south and would definitely move to Austin for the right job. Amazing party scene there. Food is superb and people are great.
