Sorry to hear - he was a real rising star - strong young MP, married a babe - then he lost the election last year and has apparently taken it quite hard. Hopefully he can rebound.

Well, as I heard it, he married her the day after he lost the election, but that's quibbling. I personally hope he doesn't bounce back, that's a couple of strikes against him and he has proven himself to be a blatant hypocrite. In one of his campaigns he criticized Layton for wanting to relax marijuana laws based on the message it would send to kids.

Default Update - Jaffer gets a slap on the wrist

It pays to be a former Conservative MP - and it doesn't hurt to have your wife in the Cabinet either!

Quote:
Former Conservative MP Rahim Jaffer pleaded guilty Tuesday in an Ontario courtroom to careless driving and must pay a $500 fine.

Jaffer had been charged with impaired driving and possession of cocaine but those charges were dropped.

So much for the much vaunted Conservative "Get tough on crime" policy.

What a joke our justice system is.

I fail to see how Federal Conservative criminal policy has anything to do win a Liberal dominated provincial matter.

His career is done. Fool me once, I wont get fooled again.

Really you don't see how the Criminal Code (federal) and the Conservatives continual "get tough on crime" policy relates to a former CPC MP and current CPC cabinet minister?

Something tells me if this was the red party instead you would make the connection fairly simply.

Jaffer, 37, was initially charged with cocaine possession and drunk driving stemming from an incident last September in Palgrave, Ont., about 60 kilometres north of Toronto.

Those charges were withdrawn by the Crown in an Orangeville courtroom Tuesday, Global News reported. The Crown said that there was no reasonable prospect of conviction.

"I'm sure you can recognize a break when you see one," Justice Doug Maunder said.

I know for a fact he was dabbling in the white stuff long before he lost his seat.

"Rahim Jaffer" is the top trending topic on twitter right now.
