The jury is still out for me on the show. Watched it last night and while I loved the musical numbers, thought the plot was weak, similar to what Flamesguy_SJ mentioned.

I'll give it a couple more weeks and then decide.

Same here. Great music and dancing, weak plot. This is Fame 2009 version. Anyone who thinks this is gay either has a problem or doesn't appreciate performing arts talent.

not that anyone should like it, but I'm having a hard time understanding how the plot was 'weak'.

It's a show about a group of high school misfits forming a Glee club with their equally alienated teacher. With that premise and a tongue-in-cheek/over-the-top tone, how could the plot have been strengthened?

I found the plot a little shallow, but I'm sort of willing to write it off to a story in a high school setting. I hope they get into some more serious plot lines like Fame did. Fame tackled social issues. Glee should try that otherwise it runs the risk of appealing to the teenage set and few others. I liked the show, however. The performances were very good.

A friend of mine had been saying this was the greatest show ever. To be honest I had no idea what she was talking about or smoking. But after watching it last night I have to admit that I really liked it. (It could also be the fact that I'm a sucker for Journey too, but that's a different story).

I really liked it and it's probably one of those shows that my fiancee watches that I'll actually kinda look forward to watching. If anything it'll be cool to see what they do with other songs... Taking an Amy Winehouse track abour rehab and making highschool kids prance around to it is genius in my opinion.

I getcha. It just seems to me that kind of criticism of the show isn't fair. It's criticizing it for being something it's not, rather than how well it's executing what it is.

Ryan Murphy isn't going to do in your face realism, and he's not going to explicitly tackle social problems. It's not his style. But the show, to me, presents itself as being cheesy satire and with that in mind, it excels.

Didn't watch the whole show..and it didn't seem all that funny.
Hopefully the next couple episodes are better.

It does have potential.. and anything with journey is pretty good in my book.

I saw this back in May and I enjoyed it. Hope the show lives up from what I saw in the plot. Some pretty funny humour in it.

I guess my main beef with it was it felt like the third or fourth episode of a new series, instead of the pilot; like we were supposed to already know the characters and care about them and the "huge" decisions they were making. There just seemed to be something missing from the entire show that way (case in point: the teacher suddenly heading the Glee club then having a child then being nostalgic about his "good ol' days", all within a span of 20-30 minutes), and it kind of turned me off.

All that being said, I'll give it a few more episodes, mostly because I need something to watch this Fall, but also because I'm a big drama/choir nerd, so I have a feeling I'll warm to it eventually.

For those of you who have yet to see the pilot or felt it was a little underdeveloped, the director's cut of it can be viewed at Fox.com (in the U.S.). I imagine it could be found elsewhere on the internet for those of us only in Canada.

Well I just finished watching the second episode...

I can't believe Jane Lynch left Party Down.

That is all.

I liked the first episode but not the second. I found it silly. I like the music and dancing but the fluff in between was uninteresting.

I didn't love it but there were some funny moments. I think it's for a younger crowd than me. But I did love the wife of the glee teacher. Can't wait to see how her 'pregnancy' turns out..so I guess I'll have to watch it again. The lady from the 40 year old virgin is a great actor.

Ya know, my girlfriend seemed to like it, but I didn't find it overly.. anything. Rather bland, in my opinion The best parts were with the Role Models and 40 Year Old Virgin woman She's always gold

Yeah, she is pretty hilarious. I also enjoy the guidance counsellor and the principal.
