I loathe calgary radio. It has got to be some of the worst radio around for a larg(er) city. There needs to be more radio stations. Going to Vancouver or Seattle, just about every frequency has a station. It is amazing, and you have a tonne of selection.

The lack of selection in calgary radio is amazing. I used to listen to fan960 all the time, it was nice listening to something other than The Hip or 54/40 on CJay (thank you CRTC). But now, even listening to that is starting to p*ss me off.

So instead, I have been listening to Q107, Country 105, and CBC 102.1.

Since I have given up driving for my commute I really only listen to the radio in the morning while I'm getting up and late at night while driving home from hockey games.

I generally listen to Jack FM in the mornings because of two things:
1) I like 80's music that reminds me about how dorky we really were.
2) I usually dislike their morning DJ's (Matt and Eric) and find them annoying. My rage helps wake me up in the morning.

When NHL hockey is happening I listen to The Fan 960 when I'm in the shower so I can hear the NHL insider with Peter Maher.

Other than that, I hate CJAY 92 - the DJ's are lame and their schtick is getting old.

Just how many classic rock stations do we need? No more please!

I have to admit, since I like a lot of music formats, I didn't mind the Power 107 / Kiss 96.9 mixed format before it became over run with boy bands and other Top 40. Saved me from having to flip stations all the time. I'd like to see one of these return, although I think Vibe is gravitating towards one of these.

I think Jack FM is trying too hard now. I really liked them in the beginning, but the commericals are annoying and morning show is atrcious. The Eagle has a decent selection of music, as does Q. I find myself always flipping through stations anyway. If you want something mellow, there's always The Breeze.

CJSW 90.9 is all you need. (If you are in range of course)

I was surprised when I moved to Calgary 18 months ago that there was only one FM country music station. So I'm forced to listen to Country 105, even though they're p*ss-poor with their song selection.

I do also listen to QR77 and Fan 960 when I want some talk.

One weird thing I've noticed and I'm wondering if anyone else has. In the evenings, on AM 1530, I can pick up KFBK. It originates in Sacramento, California! I couldn't believe it when I first realized I could get a Cali station clearly on my radio. It's a right-wing talk radio station (Rush Limbaugh, etc) but it's fascinating to listen to.

Mainly listen to FAN 960 and sometimes QR 77 if there is a Hitman game on.

If I do listen to the music stations I prefer CJAY. Can't stand 107 at all. Their promos are horrible and the music isn't really all that great either.

For those in Lethbridge or who have been I would say that Rock 106 is easily better than station I remember in Calgary over the past 10 years.
The only problem with Rock 106 is repetitiveness. You get more variation of music from CJAY92 in one day than you do from Rock106 in one week. It is still the #1 radio station of all demographics for southern alberta (south of Calgary). Fraser of Fraser & Rosie's Big Breakfast show is getting to be an assclown too. There is only his opinion and it is clearly obvious that he isn't properly informed on what he talks about. He has become complacent probably because of Rock106's dominance of southern Alberta airwaves. I think it shows that he doesn't put as much effort into his job as he used to do.

So getting onto topic, I listen to CJAY92 over the internet during the day. Somedays their connection stinks so I have to listen to the Bear or club977.com. [/b][/quote]
Maybe it is because I enjoy the songs they are repeating or the fact that I don't listen to it often enough for me to realize there is repetiveness, but I never have thought that and always enjoyed listening to it. Rarely plays a bad song and CJAY is too often playing songs that I can't stand.

Well we listened to it 8 hours per day, plus I'd have the radio on in the mornings when I roll out of bed until I leave the house, so perhaps I am suffering from over exposure to Rock 106. I still enjoy what they play, but I needed a change nonetheless.

The guy I work beside has brought in his own radio, and puts it on 107 EVERY FKN DAY.

Good god I hate classic rock soooooooo much right now......I feel like Peter in Office Space every time I try to get him to turn down his ZZ Top. Maybe if I stole his stapler it might do something???

Since I got my iPod I don't listen to the radio anymore.
