I have always been a big fan of the Unicorn on stephen ave. They have a really good drink selection, good food, hot servers, and if you feel like being a jerk to your buddy get him to try the level 3 hot wings.
I had an outstanding Steak Sandwich at Brewsters last night. It was on special, $10.99 from $14.99, and it was still really really good!!
It came with soup/salad/fries, (I had soup and it was wicked) and the steak came on garlic bread (obviously) with a single hand breaded onion ring on top. The presentation was good, but the steak was really good. On the small side, 6oz, but thick, and quality (sterling silver) meat. It was cooked perfectly too.
Too many places have chuck steaks as the special and they taste like ass, and then on top of that they cook them well no matter what you say.
Not sure how the food can be so bad so often at those places. Especially Kilkenny.
As for good: Kensington Pub. Has a British feel.
I haven't eaten at most of those places. Its been a year or two, but I thought the bangers and mash at the Seanachie was pretty good. Hard to screw that one up though.

They specialize in chicken wings, feathers included.
And 1 cent ribs that are quite possibly the most uneatable 'food' on the planet.
They also have mostly unattractive waitresses haha.
