The deer are obviously a little pissed about you having hunted them in the past. It won't be long before...

You may have to clean up another mess, but only once.

Here is a pic... although its not one of my piles but it basically looks the same...
Firstly, if they are interested in your "small tree" and are return visitors, you might be advised to get something to protect the trunk before the snow flies as the males might come along and use it as an itching post for their antlers . . . . . and then you've got a dead tree.

A loose looping of chicken wire - largely invisible from any kind of distance - has worked for me at my place in the country. We have more than 100 trees and we were losing about five a year to deer mauling them before protecting them.

Secondly, deer leave an awesome amount of poop around my place, vast accumulations once the snow clears for Spring, which my two Golden Retrievers lap up like they're buckets of chocolate almonds . . . . so, get a dog!!!

Otherwise, just let the poop settle into the grass and the nuggets will eventually disappear through time. If you find that esthetically awful, then maybe get a vacuum cleaner for the purpose if you're some kind of neat freak.

Me, I clean up dog poop and forget about deer poop.

Polly tells a dear missus to "Frak Off"

And this isn't a terribly unusual sight, nestled in the shade against the house . . . . . even in a yard with two dogs.

The deer at my place (Priddis) stake out their property and protect it. That property would be my veggie garden. They put the run on my dogs.

We had to resort to putting an 8 foot high fence around my garden last year as the deer were harvesting 95% of what I sowed and grew.

I guess I'll have to use my hand (in a rubber glove of course) for the newer droppings that I don't want to vacuum.

There is a tool that I could use if I really wanted to spend a lot of money. Its called the Fine Tines Stall Fork and its made by Woody Pet Products out in Surrey BC.

http://www.woodypet.com/finetines.html

The tines are 5/16" and 3/8" apart which would be perfect. Unfortunately they don't have a distributor in Alberta, the forks are expensive at $39 each and shipping is about another $13

Out of all the forums ive ever posted on, this is the strangest. Use a shovel and toss it in your neighbors yard.

I see you didn't look at my reference pic..
Because its in pellet form, its not so easy to pick up with a shovel. It doesn't lay on top of the grass like a big turd of dog poop. Deer droppings are small pellets that fall in between the grass blades.... or at least they do if your grass is longer than 1".

Verrry complicated........

I would find that hard to believe . . . . . we had a momma and two cubs terrorizing our crab apple trees for five straight nights a few years ago . . . . and I was still finding their poop for about a year!!! Seriously.

What are you going to do, not plant any apple trees?

Perhaps I am missing something but why does a bit of digested herbivorous material bother you. It is just fertiliser. There is nothing bad about it. No different to horse manure and I've picked that up in my bare hands. Any gardener from England will have done. If you hunt deer you must have gutted, skinned and butchered them so why the heebie jeebies over a bit of dung?

So you're actually resorting to vacuuming your lawn?

No, but I wouldn't exactly want the poop festering inside my vacuum either.
