Your "team" just became the team to beat in the NFC. I'm not sure why you are upset, imagine how Peterson is going to run when he only have 7 guys in the box to run through.
Boy, Viking fans dealing with being a Superbowl contenders sure are strange.

Super Bowl contenders?
I would not go THAT far. We have yet to see how the locker room handles this, we have yet to see how many players will trust their coach after this b/s process. AND we have yet to see just how much old #4 has left in the tank.
Everyone is acting like he is the messiah, when he most certainly is not. The media circus that will follow this team around, the ungodly expectations that will be placed on every player of this team and the reaction of the veterans to Mr. Favre will all contribute to whether this is a positive thing for the Vikings or not.
So with all due respect, you think the Vikings are Super Bowl contenders, I do not.

I'm not sure you fully appreciate the contentious relationship we have had with this guy over the years. Having said that, I'm in agreement with your take on how this will change defensive coverage against Minnesota. Should be an interesting year.

I still think if I was a defensive coordinator facing Minny this year that goal 1 would still to be to fill the gaps on the line to defend against the run early and often. Favre hasn't had a 300+ yard passing game since November of his last season with the Packers back in 2007. I would make him prove he's still an elite passer before I start to respect the Vikings passing game.

I look forward to Mr. Laser Rocket Arm adding to his INT totals this year. That being said, I still think the fact that he has the ability to stretch the field can't not open up things for AP.

Added a poll to see what people think of this. Of course I did omit the obvious option of Brett Farve, stop eating all our steak and ruining everybody's life.

Where does, "Starts off well, then falls apart taking the team and the coach with him (see '08 Jets)" fit in?

Pagal might be quite happy if that happens as he'll finally get rid of Childress.
The thing to keep in mind was that the Jets were a bit more of an unknown going into last year having spent money to fix their defence, but were still coming off a bad year. I'd say that Farve or no Farve Mangini was probably doomed if they missed the playoffs. Overall Farve's impact last year on the Jets to me would improvement over what they had, but not the answer. Granted it started on top of the hill and gave way.

He will throw at least as many interceptions as TDs.

That's kind of the thing - I can see him starting off well and then falling apart. Green Bay and Chicago aren't going to make it easy on anyone so I don't think they are going to have an easy time of it. The NFC South and NFC East are not going to hand the NFC North a wildcard spot, either. The NFC Superbowl team came from the NFC West last year, and while I think the Cardinals may step back a bit they aren't the sad sacks they used to be. And if Seattle stays healthy they will be better. And remember Favre lost to the 49ers(7-9), Raiders(5-11) and Seahawks(4-12) last year - he was fairly spotty even early on.
So I think people who are saying Minn are the team to beat have gone overboard. The NFC will see more parity than it has in a long time. Favre may start out the season fine, but if things get tight and he decides he needs to become the gunslinger (and if his ego won't let him retire, I can't see how it will let him play within the system for the entire system) then the Vikings will be in trouble this year and will be looking for a new coach and starting QB next year.

I would be singing from the roofs if this happened. But this is pretty much Childresses "all-in" move. This was his move alone, Ziggy Wilf approved it, Spielman was pretty much against this move.
So if this Favre experiment blows up in his face, Childress will be shown the door. And while I'd be SUPER EXTATIC about that, I'm not sure I want to season to be a complete bust for that to happen. We can't waste this stellar defense and AP for another season...can we?

That's a tough poll. I almost went with the "cause a riff" because I don't think Minnesota's success, offensively, is going to come from throwing the ball as much as Farve is used to. They're going to have to take more of a Pittsburgh Steelers circa 2005-06 approach to be successful:
- strong offensive line
- great run game (majority of the snaps)
- great defense
- simple passing game to keep the guys in the box honest and help open holes for Purple Jesus.
I don't think Farve will be able to stomach handing the ball off rather than throwing off his back foot into triple coverage every series. If he can - playoff bound, but nothing more.
