Hey man, when I got caught smoking dope by a guard at MIDNIGHT, while there for the Dark Knight showing the guy let me off with a warning.
But not before be "checked" (the quotations mean he was faking to look important) my ID and did a background check to make sure I didn't have any outstanding warrants or anything.
I swear to god that is what he told me. I just tried to contain my laughter and then re-lit the joint as soon as he walked away.

You're my hero.
Security officers at the mall do have pretty thankless jobs. While I'm sure a lot of them see it as a power trip, the majority are just doing their job.
Hopefully they're able to get more on this guy so they can charge him and get him off the streets. A ban from the mall is brutal punishment.

Looking at the other side of the coin... even if it turns out that he wasn't actually following young boys, and was just doing some other sick and twisted thing... I mean, for all anyone really knows at this point, maybe he had already made an "arrangement" with the person who was going to be "using" that stall. (I don't believe this, I'm just making an example.)
Anyway, It doesn't matter. His name is already in the newspaper with a quote from a cop suggesting that he's a child molester. Guilty or not, he's already been sentenced.
Edit: I'm not condoning, defending or anything of that nature. This whole thing of newspapers being able to publish names and pictures before a trial or a guilty verdict (or even official charges) is a pet peeve of mine.

I get the feeling he wasn't working for National Geographic...

Until now I have never heard of a guy being named "Cori" and spelled with an "i".
Mall cops have thankless jobs. All of the responsibility and none of the authority. It would be pretty tough actually.

I agree with you. Probably not the most rewarding or high paying job for somone who at times risks their lives.
There is no doubt security guards are looked down upon. Meanwhile, who has to deal with the crap and the violence.

^^^ Hey, they took the job.
I was a security guard for a short time and its not a hard job to get. Security check and a test and your in. You dont get guns or handcuffs as you have no real authority. You're there to basically call the cops (Southcenter has a cop shop in it). Granted mall guards have more action then all other security guards (maybe not c-train cops), so they have to react to things like running shoplifters and things of that nature. But when theres real trouble they call in the heavies, thats it.
