He's on drugs, he's not on drugs. I enjoyed it either way.

If he is doping, I doubt he's the only guy out there doing it.

There's no way he's on steroids. Muscle just adds bulk and slows him down

The entire 100M final and essentially the entire championships are clean...

http://www.tsn.ca/summer_sports/story/?id=288145

I have trouble believing this info. I think that the article on TSN was meant to be written in green font.

It is disheartening that every time I hear of a record in almost any athletic event one of my first thoughts is to wonder if P.E.D.s were involved.

19.19 in 200m!! Insane. Too bad all the PED talk, as he is without question the greatest runner of all time.

Unfortunately I am so jaded now. I figure it will just be a matter of time before it comes out he is using banned substances. I have no idea if he is or not. But the sport is just ruined for me. So it is... blah blah.. who cares. Probably just another cheater.

NOTE: I am not saying he is a cheater. I am saying because of all the past cheating I just don't give a damn.

Wow just watched the race on YouTube. Again "it wasn't even close" is an understatement. How can someone be that much better? Incredible.

I say let them dope. I want to see a 7sec 100m and 15sec 200m! Make it happen people!

I hope he is clean but the sad part is the questions will brought up long after his career is even over.

The excellent 'Starts with a Bang' science blog has a very good article about what an incredible stat his times are:

http://scienceblogs.com/startswithabang/

There's also this graph, which shows that he's still slowing up a bit at the end, though not nearly as much as in Beijing

http://i31.tinypic.com/miigw7.gif

Personally, I think he's clean, in part because he doesn't fit the model for dopers. He's been beating everyone in his age class consistently since the age of 16, and it doesn't make a lot of sense for anyone to take the risk of doping when they're head and shoulders above their competition.

I agree with you, but A-rod says hi.

IMO, I'd say 70/30 he's clean, mostly for the reasons you stated above. He was cleaning up early in his life while not taking the sport seriously.

Also, FWIW, I'm pretty sure there probably is no one else on the planet who could run the times he's running even with unlimited access to all drugs available.

It looks like he held up at the end of his 19.19, is it possible he could have done it in 18.xx?
