Check it - I always suck in week one, then climb towards the top by the end of the year. Or maybe not.

Awesome, another good week. 12-4. I got Cinci wrong(who didnt) plus Houston, Chicago and San Fran.
Also how is Denver the underdog against Oakland next week?

Nobody believes yet. Not even Bronco fans. No way I'd bet against them in this game though.

It's my first go-around with this league, I'm a little confused. My record's more or less the same as anyone's but I see I'm mired down in 15th spot. So is the idea to place more points on the riskier games, in kind of a high-risk, high-reward thing?

That's up to you.
That's one strategy. Not sure I'd employ it in week 3 though.

Oh so you do get more points for putting a higher number on riskier games then? I have no idea how it works...

No, if you put 16 points on a game and you pick it right you get 16 points.
You win these pools by minimizing your losses and maximizing your wins. Bascially if you're going to be wrong you want it to cost you the least amount of points. A guy who goes 11-5 on the week but loses his 1 to 5 point games is only out 15 points. If you go 14-2 but lose your 10 and 11 confidence point games you're out 21 points.
I guess if you really want to try and distance yourself you can put big points on upsets and hope they come through. If you pulled it off you'd probably make up some serious ground. I've found in the past that I can make more ground when I lose a game because I'll only have like 8 points on Indy to win a game that they end up losing and most of the group has 13-15 points on them type of thing.

Oops! Made my picks but forgot to make any confidence points. Oh well, I was close to last as it was...

Bump to remind folks of tonights game. Although I think this year you can miss a game and still make picks for the Sunday games so long as you make them before the game started. Tonight is a tough game to pick as you never know which Bears team will show up and the Niners have struggled lately losing 4 of 5.

I think it's pretty much a 3 horse race. I've had a brutal year for picks, the more I follow the NFL and think I know...it seems to make my ability to pick games absolutely suck.

I just wish people wouldn't quit playing even if they've missed a week (like myself). Makes it more fun to see more people invovled.

The last week is so unpredicatable though that there could be a massive swing in points if one plays it correctly. All three front runners, will have to monsterously choke if that were to happen, but it could.

Yeah, picking games in the final week is something else. I think it was 3 years ago I had like a 20 point lead going into the final week and I ended up winning by 2 points. I know when I was looking at my picks this week it certainly wasn't easy. Who's going to try who's mailing it in, who's team sucks so bad they still can't win anyway. Who knows!

Congrats to Rubecube who held on to win by 2 points. I ended up with a good final week to tie for 3rd, but was too far back to make much of a threat. I guess I could have held off on my karma challenge and pulled back my Chiefs loss prediction.
Look forward to next year.
