They condemned the comments just in a measured way. What does this have to do with being black? If Alan Keyes was president I doubt the ACLU would be supporting what he said.

The White House was not recording names, just what kind of information was out there. What people were saying. Not who was saying it.

The SS goes through a lot of those emails. I'm sure they receive threats on a daily basis, and they need to have a working knowledge of all the people that send them.

To think that the Whitehouse actually gives a crap about what people THINK about a healthcare bill, or the problems involved when Obama isn't making ANY effort to present this bill to the American people, AT ALL, is laughable.

The Democrats are trying to force this thing through Congress as fast as possible, and its not working.

If you're disagreeing with the government bill, its called free speech. And the government cannot store that information according to the Privacy Act. But they are also required by law to store the name of any person that emails the Whitehouse for security purposes.

I was referring to Obama's campaign promise to work in a bi-partisan fashion and to include members of the right in on important policy decisions. The fact that he can't unify members of the Dems is pretty bad.

More to what I was trying to get at - if Obama had taken a strong bipartisan approach to immigration (guest worker program, tougher laws on illegals and business owners, border security, total immigration reform, etc...) he would have built up considerable goodwill with both parties. By taking on healthcare, I fear he's handicapping himself for the rest of the term. Clinton recovered in '94 to get re-elected but unless the Republicans throw a lame duck candidate up like Palin, he's not going to have a cakewalk in 2012 like Clinton did in '96.

I know. I just thought Obama was going to "change" the partisan nature of US politics and had "hoped" that he wouldn't resort to beating a bill through Congress on shear majority numbers rather than bipartisan input.

They are required to keep information of people that email them. Not information included about people or groups that disagree with them. Obviously the people emailing them would not be critics but supporters who want disinformation dispelled.

I think references to "nazis" needs to cease on both sides. Rush Limbaugh referred to health reform supporters as "nazis" and apparently Pelosi has too. How is that even possible?

Hyperbole crap like that, on either side, isn't politics and the founding fathers are rolling over in their graves... a government for the people shouldn't be run on threats, hyperbole, paranoia, and fear. People need to turn off the politician mouth-pieces and become educated on the issues.

I support those town halls people and their passion. After all, who would want Obama to kill their grandmothers, institute legistlation to ensure the state randomly selects a doctor for you that could be thousands of kms away, decide which hours of each month you can see a doctor, decide whether you can even utter the word doctor and how dare he bring in his communist style of medicine? For shame. I bet Obama will personally slaughter the first baby born after this legislation passes.

It's unbelievable how sheepish so many people in the States are to believe right wing lies. I guess they prefer a system that bankrupts them and denies care to a significant percentage. I guess they don't care about their fellow countrymen. Larry Wilmore on the Daily Show summarized it perfectly last night: a hysterical woman in a town hall meeting cried that she wanted her "America" back. Larry Wilmore said "tell that to the Natives."
