I was going to suggest what we did -- arranging to have your own "temporary marriage commissioner" (i.e. a friend or relative) -- but it looks like they changed it back in 2004: http://www.service-alberta.ca/1153.cfm
II got married in Mexico, and brought in our spanish language Mexican mariage cert to the registry here in Calgary. the guy switched my wife's name over - are we married up here/ I know we are from a tax perspective (common law, wtc), but I assume the marriage is official here too?
Bump. Sorta forgot about this part of the wedding planning... whoops. Does anyone have any recommendations? Looking for someone with a good sense of humor, or at least a bit of a personality to lighten up the most boring 15 minutes of the day...
Ok, so I never thought about this: But 3-years ago we got married. Before our marriage we went to the registry and did something can't recall what, after the fact we gave the form to the "head priest/granthi" at the Sikh temple who presented it to us for signatures after the ceremony, since then we have never seen or heard of this piece of paper. Anyone know if I need it etc? Where can I get it from?
