Honestly, the best fish/seafood tacos I have ever had in my life. California has some great Mexican food in general....the best stuff is almost always from a truck.
Ya, if anyone else has any restaurants anywhere from Gaslamp to Universal studios, feel free to list them

If it is the one I went to, I highly recommend the fish taco. Its the only fast food I would recommend.

I have been down that way a couple times, I would recommend getting the Souther California City Pass. 3 day parkhopper pass at disneyland/california adventure park (dont forget to visit the tiki hut by the indiana jones ride, that is the scariest effing attraction ever), and you get to go in early before the crowds come in on one day. You also get universal studios (you have to do the tour, it is a must on your first time) and 1 day at Sea World and your choice of either the San Diego zoo, or the Wild Animal Park.

Just for the record, I did not realize there was a sexual innuendo there. Yikes.

In universal, the first thing you should do is the tour, tourists flock to it and the lines get crazy long.

I'm not sure if California is one of the states that makes you have insurance. In some states you can get quoted an uninsured rate, and you do not be uninsured.

I've consistently gotten the best rates with Alamo/National for both Canada and U.S trips.

I can actually recommend one, right across the street from the Convention Center in SD, there is this little taco shack with outdoor seating, just by one of those square water fountain things that spray water out of the ground. I used to go to a few conferences every year in SD, and I'd eat there twice a day for the whole week.

I'll have to take Table's recommendation as well, I was thinking about doing a small road trip through the Santa Barbara area next month if I get a chance.

If you're looking to save a few bucks and don't care which company you get and the exact car you get, check out hotwire.com. I'm not sure about LA, but we got rediculous rates in SF (i.e. $10 a day plus taxes).
