Apple managers who have accepted Microsoft's offers have reportedly then been tasked with attempting to hire Apple retail store staff, similarly dangling increased compensation as an incentive for employees to make the switch.
I've actually been pleased to see MS actually step up to the plate lately. The last forced innovation that came from another company rocking it that I can remember was amazon opening the door to drm free music. Now I look at something like the Zune HD and it's Zune Pass and my hopes are that it opens up the door for apple to intro a similar subscription service. Listening to the Mac-heads gush over it on last weeks Macbreak weekly was kind of impressive.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a MS fan and I enjoy a hearty laugh at their expence, but a strong MS makes for a better environment for consumers IMO. I would rather apple have a fire lit under them.
I'm definitely on board for some healthy competition, I'm just rolling my eyes at the way they are handling these MS stores. Opening up across the street from Apple stores, copying their store designs and now stealing their employees.
I just have a hard time even taking them seriously anymore. They're just a gong show now (in my books).
Microsoft has reportedly hired former Apple real estate chief George Blankenship as a consultant to assist the company with securing locations for its new retail stores.
