It is so gross here, and I'm probably in the coolest place in populated BC.

I hate this weather. The rarity of this weather is why I enjoy living in Victoria - not too cold, not too hot, except for right now.

I love the heat!

I'm going houseboating for the long weekend, I'm guess it's going to be scorching hot, which is what house boating is all about!

Anyone out near the Shuswap right now? Is it really hazy from surrounding forest fires?

Victoria is a little bit better than Vancouver in the winter. It's still wet, but you'll get a few more sunny days.

Do people look at you weird when you're standing outside your car walking around while it runs?

Victoria is still brutal for rain. I hate it.

I would much rather have the Calgary's snow and sun compared to Victoria's rain and gray. It is very, very depressing most of the time through winter and spring.

I measured 31 degrees in my room today as I am attempting to pound out an essay. I think it got as low as 27 degrees in my room overnight last night. Its disgustingly hot with no AC.

Calgarypuck has been a little too distracting unfortunately, looks like this one might get handed in a bit late.

EDIT: 30 degrees in my room at 11 pm. tried going outside to get cool but its hot out there too. This is killing me.

Supposed to drop down to low 20's next week according to environment Canada, which is the average high here in the July.

Sweet pic! Wish I had brought my camera too.

My parents live in the Shuswap and my mom said you can see and smell the smoke from the fires and that's it's stinking hot there right now. Supposed to hit 39 on the holiday Monday.

Thanks. Hopefully it isn't too hazy from the smoke. Either way I'm sure I'll have about 4000 beers. Houseboating is too much fun.

Vancouver is brutal right now. We are running 3 or 4 fans for 24 hours a day for the last couple of weeks and there isn't really an end in sight. The humidity is dropping a bit from what it was earlier in the week which is helping, but there is still zero breeze whatsoever and the air outside is just thick and dead. Feels like swimming down the sidewalk.

I keep hearing people saying "don't complain cause when it's cold you'll be sorry"--then I tell them I'm from Calgary and Winnipeg, and that it doesn't get anywhere close to cold in Vancouver, and even if it does get cold it's easier to warm up than cool down... and they shut up.

I just bought a house here outside of Abbotsford and it is a 2500 sq ft sauna. Heat pump shopping this weekend

there's a multi stage mountain bike race being run in Kamloops this week, which is usually hot anyway. I can't imagine racing in +40.

102 F in Seattle yesterday.

http://www.weather.com/newscenter/na...=news_forecast

Another hot day is expected across the Pacific Northwest today after all-time record highs were set on Wednesday.

High temperatures will be up to 20 degrees above average today. Upper 90s to near 100 degree readings are in the forecast along the I-5 corridor in Seattle and Portland.

I'm actually starting to get used to it.

Maybe it's the lack of sleep?

I baked a pasta two nights ago. Big mistake. Cold food from here on in, that's the key!

Lots of places hit records.
Quote:
The city of Vancouver has registered its hottest day on record.

Environment Canada says a temperature of 33.8 C was recorded at Vancouver airport on Wednesday, shattering the previous high of 33.3 C that was set in 1960. "A very strong ridge of high pressure is currently dominating all of B.C.," said Gary Dickinson, a meteorologist with Environment Canada.

"The ridge of high pressure also brought up from the south very warm air, which was responsible for the record-breaking temperatures."

And Dickinson says Vancouver wasn't the only city to record its hottest day ever.

"Abbotsford beat their all-time record as well. The previous record was 37.9 C and they reached 38.0 C," he said.

I'm dying here (in Vancouver)

The part that kills me as a born and bred Calgarian is that the temperature isn't really dropping at night. I was sweating walking around at midnight outside, it was shirts off type of weather. Must have been 25+ all night.

When I go to bed its 30 degrees in my room. When I wake up its 30 degrees in my room. Keep waking up with headaches, maybe I'm not drinking enough water. This humditity is brutal too.

Time to go hide in the coldest building in school all day or I might get ill with this heat.
