I have a great job, working with great people, for a great company, doing interesting projects...
but the thread title isn't "work is beautiful".

Life is FANTASTIC...I've got a job I love, a fiance who I am very excited about getting married too on Aug 8th, a lovely choc. lab puppy who is sheer comedy around the house. I've got 2 wonderful families (yes even the outlaws). The best friends in the world.
I've been able to travel to Europe 4x, Hawaii 3x, Mexico 2x, Carribbean 1x, all over Canada and the USA. Been salmon fishing this year and going to spend a wonderful honeymoon in the US + Canada.
But its the small things. Coming home to a beer and the patio, holding the door open for old ladies, getting a courtesy wave for having a driver let you in. The smile on my fiances face when I get home and that waggy tail of the puppy..
Oh yeah, got a fridge full of beer and the Stamps game on in 30min...life is certainly good.

Speaking of Life is Beautiful....has anyone ever seen that movie? It's pretty awesome. And a great reminder that no matter what crappy thing has happened to me, something crappier has happened to someone else somewhere.
Henceforth, life is beautiful.

Work is going phenomenally well - I'm in demand with two different groups competing for my expertise. I may go shopping for a new car tomorrow.

Also an awesome movie. I highly recommend Life is Beautiful tho. If American Beauty made you cry....you should prepare yourself. And no it's not a gay chick flick. Just a really amazing movie.

You know, I miss Canada. Living in China has caused me to appreciate Canada more than I ever did when living there. Canada really is a super place and people who get to live there are extremely fortunate. Every day in China I can read examples of people being crushed by their government, until those news pieces get pulled from the web by the government that is, and I experience the environment and lifestyle living in China's premier city where things are, compared to a Canadian city, very dirty, polluted, ugly, crowded, extremely expensive relative to the average person's income and corruption rules both business and politics.
I'm not moving back to Canada yet, but I am really looking forward to the day my new wife and I move to Canada a couple of years from now. There is definitely a reason so many people want to immigrate to Canada. Life is pretty beautiful there.

This. It blows my mind to think of how good we have it compared to others in the world. Yet, there are so many people here that are sad/angry/upset with life. Then you compare it to people who have 0.0001% of what we have, but still find ways to be happy. Really puts things into perspective.

I found out my eyesight can be improved which means I may avoid a cornea transplant! Also, the sunset tonight was pretty awesome, and I have been getting loads of customer compliments at work! I'm happy!

LOL me too! I saw these 2 hotties walking down the sidewalk, holding hands and lovin' every minute of it. Every single guy at the intersection was staring with a wide grin on his face.

Here is the contents of a chain email I got - seemed to fit this thread somewhat.
Written By Regina Brett, 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio
"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me.
It is the most-requested column I've ever written.
My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:
1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone...
4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with the universe.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first pay check.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. Life adapts.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood.. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie.
Don't save it for a special occasion, Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you..
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'
27. Always choose life.
28. Forgive everyone and everything.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business..
30. Time heals almost everything. Give it time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. You are loved for who you ARE, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood.
38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.
41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
42. The best is yet to come.
43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
44. Yield.
45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift."
