Have you considered knocking her out with some chloroform and then just doing what you want and telling her she had a great time but has to lay off the sauce?

That's a pretty important piece of information.

Tell her about it but don't be too whiny. Just say; "Ya, it's too bad that we already have plans", as if you're not even considering it. There's a chance that maybe she'll want you to do it...
If not, just go to the damn Country Fair. Money comes and goes, but it's the people close to you that matter the most. Also, you don't want her bringing this up in an argument 3 years from now... and if I know women, she will.

I'd go with the gf over the money every time. I would also not tell her that I'd had the chance to do otherwise; she won't feel guilty over what she doesn't know.

I haven't been in a long time but it is a lot of fun. If you are allergic to hackey-sacks, beards or banjoes, you best bring an antihistamine.

Came home and she was furious. I mean, hell fire and all that.
We ended up talking for about three hours, mostly about our relationship and where its going and all that. Three years in with the anni coming up she must of been feeling stressed. Things haven't always been as good as they have been the past few months.
Anyway, she agrees to not go to the fair if I agree to save all the money in a savings account. Then I call buddy and thank him graciously for the gig but decline, and my lady is beaming.
So she bought me my 80 dollar ticket to SCF and a 26 of Rum.
Thanks for the thread everyone.

You had to talk for 3 hours about your relationship and she told you to save your money. So whipped.

Why didn't you just invite her to the latin fest and do something special onstage like dedicate a song to her or something?

Sounds to me like you had an opportunity to be the hero.
Trad: Hey, listen, I can't wait to go to this fair. Spending time with you is like, the best thing I can imagine!
Priority: Oh Trad! You are so dreamy!
Trad: Yeah, I know. This guy wanted me to play at this other thing, and I was all like "no way, my lady comes first, GUY."
Priority: What? OMGz! That's a huge gig! So sweet... but this might be a bigger opportunity than you thought... are you sure you don't want to take it?
Trad: Baby, you so much more important to me than hundreds and hundreds of dollars. I mean, at least then I could hold my head up high and actually BUY you a gift...
Priority: Oh... I don't get a gift if you don't go? I have a headache anyways, plus I hate fairs now.
Trad: As long as the headache clears up when I get home and we can play hide the sausage, it's all good.
Priority: Hide the what?
*foomp!*

Thats about when I pull the chute on my relationship
Her - "I want to talk about our relationship"
Me - "Its all good in the hood baby"
Her - "I don't think its going anywhere, I need to see something from you that takes it to the next level"
Me - "I totally agree"
Her - "Really thats great . . . "
Me - "Yup thats why tonight I'm sneaking in the backdoor"
Her - "Get out"
Me "What did I do?"

How much money does integrity cost, guys?

I have reported this post to the moderators as the posters username does not follow generally accepted naming principles of spouses/girlfriends of posters.
A username change to Miss. Traditional_Ale has been formally requested.
This is to also ensure you don't get hit on by Dion.
While I was secretly hoping he would try and attend both as it would be like a real life King of Queens episode, he would have to be the dumbest man on the planet to go to Latin Fest.
Also, we have a Latin fest?

My point was that he may have been able to accomplish both goals - spending time with you and making some money... while including you in his achievements. Win-win-win.
How would you have reacted if he talked with you about a plan to bring you to the music festival instead of just saying "the fair plans are cancelled"?
I don't know all of the circumstances of your specific situation, so I should leave it at that.

Here are my 5 steps to win:
1) Bake cookies the night before w/ lots of laxatives in them.
2) Get GF to eat said cookies.
3) She'll complain about being really sick just before you are ready to goto the festival, and she'll be the one to cancel.
4) Take the gig + get money.
5) Blame everything on her.
I really don't see how this plan could go wrong and you don't come out looking like the hero.
