I just recently used that forum to gather enough information to replace my Lower Intake Manifold gasket myself.
So you got the leak and a bad hub? I'm assuming you've got the 3400 then. Its rediculous how many n-bodies had the same problems that you had to fix. [/b][/quote]
Yup. That would be me

It is a 99 Grand Am GT, which only came with the 3400. It has 185,000 Kms on it now. I've had to do the LIM gasket, one wheel hub, and the front calipers and rotors.

All three of those are very common weak points of the car, and most people will face them if they own one of these N-bodies.

Aside from that, the car is pretty decent. Fairly economical to drive, reasonably priced (especially when used), and they perform quite well. They are fairly fast, and grip the road better than I ever thought a common car like this would.

I must say though, that the GT is a far better experience than the regular Grand Am, or the SE. I rented an SE over the last weekend, and it felt "cheaper" in almost everyway when compared to the GT.

I'd start with wheel balance, then check berings & ball joints.

ok, I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but you really should just take it in. There is no way anyone can diagnose your problem with the descriptions given. A car getting the "shakes" when revved up is a little different than the wheel shaking while driving. When a mechanic asks you to describe the noise, they are really just humoring you, nobody likes to get spit at when someone tries to imitate a noise that their car is making

In all seriousness, It could be one thing, or it could be a combination of things....let a mechanic take it for a road test and I'm sure your fears will either be realized or put to rest...take it for what its worth
