BTW, as far as wrongful dismissal and compensation they did pay me two weeks severence even though I my ROE said "lack of work" so severence pay was not required. I also found a way better position within three days of my layoff so I'm not too worried about getting anything from them that way.

I'd say you have a pretty good case for wrongful dismissal, but seeing as you said you landed a great job right after there's little point in taking that path.

The media idea would be great, if only for the potential that you may be able to tell your story looking like this and having that cool ass voice modulation stuff used.

Good luck on it schteve. You did the right thing, and unfortunately got pasted, but you're lucky you're in Calgary and got a job two second later. Elsewhere and it could have been much worse for you. Take cSpooge's advice and let CRA know, and also there is a whisleblowers organization as someone already mentioned. You should also let the laborboard know. Nothing may come of it, but at least they'd know.

I'm up in Fort McMurray, so it was even quicker than Calgary!

I'd appreciate the info if you don't mind.

Thanks also to everyone else, I'm not sure which way I'll go yet, but I will be following it up!

Edit: Doh, the costing is irrelevant. I see what you were saying thanks to Locke.

1-866-453-0450 is the number for the Prairies... I got a friend who was working OT to grab it for me.

Go back and burn their shop down......tell them you'll report their shady activities to the cops if they press charges.

Do as much as you can yourself, but in the event you can't, go to:

Ray's Auto Service
2-2020 35 Avenue Ne
Calgary, AB T2E 6W4
(403) 291-9228

A very honest mechanic who's saved my ass many times. Even when I eff something up myself.
